After yesterdays game, HR said it was a damage limitation exercise at half time, claiming "we were never going to come back to win 4-3 so i had to stop it being 7 or 8".
Did he not see last season's corresponding fixture? 2-0 down and hopelessly outplayed for 75 minutes we came back and scored 3 goals in 13 minutes. And was the result that turned around our season. So scoring 3 times after being woeful for more than half a match is possible. If we'd fluked one, who knows what might have happened. He then went on to say he was convinced we'll still stay up. Not by throwing in the towel at half time will we. Yes Cisse was pants but he hadn't had any service in first half. I'd have rather risked losing 6 or 7 in trying to salvage something and kickstarting our season. DOn't get me wrong, I love Harry. But if Mark Hughes had done that...

Personally I think Harry was spot on. At the end of the season goal difference could be worth a point.

He, and everyone else in the ground yesterday knew we weren't even going to score one goal, let alone three or four, it was a complete shambles.

I for one admire his honesty.

I agree with this. I can see the OP's point but I genuinely believe Liverpool are a better team than their league position suggests. The pace they break at would have made a comeback impractical. GD is key as you say and there's no disgrace losing 3-0 to a Liverpool side, 6 or 7 as Harry eluded to would have been very damaging to morale, Villa have found themselves in a similar situation, after they beat Liverpool they had the best GD of any team in the bottom 5/6 and now it's the worst.

I agree it was a shambles but what niggles me is that you could have said that about last season's game when we were 2-0 down. We were clueless and never looked like scoring. Who would have thought we would have scored a goal let alone won that match. I think goal difference is going to be irrelevant with us as at this rate we're going to be well short of points. I always admired Harry's have-a-go attitude as well

At 2-0 a game is never lost but it is a crucial stage of the match. Whoever gets that 3rd goal will have all the momentum, unfortunately this season Liverpool got it and seemed to finish the half the stronger side whereas last season QPR got it and the fans became more raucous and fed that adrenaline onto the players and as a result a relatively inexperienced Liverpool side just couidn't cope. With Liverpool's possession based style under Rodgers it was always going to be a tougher ask than when they had Dalglish and relied solely on counter attacking football but were prepared to concede possession in non-threatening parts of the field.

Can't blame Harry for clutching at straws when there's nothing else left.

    He did the right thing.

Agreed, its very difficult to score when you don't have any strikers.

Arry was right to ring the changes and strengthen midfield but I would have put Derry on for the ineffectual SWP

Agree with the 2nd post in this thread. We could have played for 900 minutes yesterday and still not have scored.

Yep no problem with Harold ... he sent them out to play regardless of the score and if we had of scored then maybe? as I believe as good as Liverpool are with the ball they are fragile.

You stop the rot and then build and we did

"it was a damage limitation exercise"
    ______________________________________

It was that from the first whistle, they were sent out negative.
Yes I am disappointed in him, when he was appointed I thought I'd see us having more of a go, I find it easier get beat, when I come away thinking we have gone for it.

If you were to draw a Venn diagram to see the crossover between those who believe "Mark Hughes is the spawn of Satan, sent to QPR to drag us through each, ever more hideous, circle of hell" and those who believe "Harold Redknapp is the second coming of Christ, is now and forever will be utterly pure, innocent and lovely. It's our own weakness and depravity which stops us winning" the result would be a single, perfect circle.

Cant argue with HR's decision at half time. It really could have been 6 or 7 if we had carried on the same way in the second half.

The performance was worse than last years v Liverpool.

There is but one Tonic for the infected ... a win. Yesterday went Pete Tong and easy to see from the off that the tactics were to hold and grow into the game ... First rule

Maybe wrong easy to say now? Ratboy's first was simply a very good goal yet now we need to get rid of Hill. Ratboy's second as Liverpool went for the throat was extremely lucky and a great bit of defending!!! in fact it was outstanding by NO! ... In a mess and its easy to see the rest. HOWEVER Liverpool did not score again and We did show some character I'm sorry but watch it again with the sound off so you don't listen to the comments. WE grew back a bit under severe disappointment. I am totally sick as anyone QPR should be. But you learn to grow and contain. Last Year we were lucky as Fragile LIverpool switched right off and it turned our season ... I know most were expecting that to happen maybe but Liverpool had control ... So tell me what else do you do? ... If they had gone all guns blazing we would have lost by 8 IMO ... we didn't Harold was spot on

I thought this thread was going to be about his post match comment that QPR will definitely stay up. Every manager in this situation has to say that of course, but I just didn't think, for one second, that Harry actually believed it. Better that he says nothing than comes out with something he so obviously doesn't believe?
