Thanks you too It's interesting you mention Disco Benny as he was linked to Chelsea the otherday for a measley £6mill. He's been linked to them a couple of times before but there's never been anything come of it. I'd be surprised if there was any truth in the recent story but BAE's a bit of a Marmite player for everyone but Spurs fans. If AVB fell into the category that doesn't think that his odd lapses are made up for by his other good play then he could be moved on. However it pans out I'm glad he's getting regular football and doing well and I don't want him to stay with us if he's going to struggle to even get on the bench like under Redknapp. I remember seeing him play for England under 16s(might have been u17s) at the Euros some years back and said then that he and Welbeck were the only players who would make it into the full team. He was at Leeds at the time and since he joined Spurs I've paid special attention to his career. He's adapted better to playing left back than I thought he would but needs to continue getting gametime. Another season gathering dust with us and I think he'd have dropped down to the Championship and stayed in the Football League for the rest of his career.
Well we have him for the season anyhow but if I were Ellis Short I'd be on the phone to Danny Levy now asking if there's even a chance of signing him. If not, we can still keep him until the end of the season but move on to another target for the summer. These guys aren't billionaires for being idiots so I guess that's exactly the sort of thing that's happening. Rose has been making all the right noises in our local press about how he loves it here & how he'd love to stay. He's a Doncaster lad, so wouldn't be that far from his family. It's very interesting to hear that you doubt AVB rates him as highly as he says he does. Maybe a case of trying to push up the price? Not having a go at all there by the way. Our dealings with Spurs have been difficult at times but I'll say one thing for Levy, he does what he thinks is right for the club & for that I admire him. I think your club is in very good hands. All the best for the season.
Yeah I like Levy but there's a lot of fans who get annoyed with how much time he spends negotiating. There's always last minute deadline day deals with us because of this but I prefer to think that given we're not a club with foreign billionaires throwing money at the club, Levy taking an extra month to negotiate makes the difference we need in order for us to get all the players we want. Both Lyon and Porto's chairmen came back to Levy this summer after talks had broken down for Lloris and Moutinho and offered to their players for much less than they were asking for before and I think Ajax's chaiman did something similar too. When Comolli(who later ****ed up Liverpool) was handling our transfers for Levy we ended up with big money flops like Bentley, Hutton and Bent for every good deal we made, whilst Levy's own methods can get you players like Van Der Vaart for £8mill. To be honest, AVB talks quite a lot of **** at times. After losing 5-2 against Arsenal he said we dominated the game from the first minute to the last I don't think he was trying to bump up a transfer or anything though, he's just playing it safe in case he ends up staying at the club, Rose won't want to play for a manager who wrote him off 7 months before.
