FFS!! He's surrounded by 3 opposition players so often because THEY KNOW that he's our biggest threat. If we had better players around him, he would be far more effective as they would attract some of the attention away from him. His passing was better than any of our other players today and at least he TRIED TO SHOOT! Seriously, you are so one-eyed you just don't see it.....or won't!
Mate, for the record, I've never said he was sh**e. I have always maintained that he would / could not cut it in the premiership. despite all his effort and good he has done, I haven't seen much that makes me change my mind. The odd flash of briliance is far to irregular from what i can see and my issue has always been with his consistency. Still hoping he can turn it around, but we are deep into the season now & fear it may be too little too late. the team he is surrounded by certainly have to take a large share of the blame for our position, as does he. IMHO Thats all, not getting drawn in again..good luck with this Swords.!
Once again a debatable point has degenerated into insults flying and offensive comments. For the record: 1 I was not at the game and missed the first 26 minutes on Sky by which time it was all over. However I did see the freekick in question. 2 The team played very poorly indeed and no one at all covered themselves in glory. 3 That includes Adel Taarabt. Having said that he remained our best attacking player. 4 The fact we were so abject is not surprising given that Clint Hill was destroyed by Suarez during that opening spell. It is difficult to kick on and fight back when one of your two most reliable defenders has had a mare with the result that you have had the stuffing taken out of you. The game was over. 5 I could not tell the precise reason why the crowd booed when Granero took the free kick instead of Taarabt. Those who were there seem to think it was because the ref had not forced Liverpool's wall back the full 10 yards. 6 I was surprised that Granero took it as he hadn't even kicked a ball in anger. 7 I am not surprised that Taarabt might have been a bit peeved. 8 I repeat this was a poor game for him. 9 However I'm sure that some of the crowd that booed appreciated that he was up for it and at least kept going, playing forward passes and shootingan. 10 Where, Swords, you got the impression that some on here or inside the stadium were praising him is quite beyond me. 11 Why you have chosen to develop an interesting thread into yet another rant at Taarabt as though he was singlehandedly responsible for our defeat is equally beyond me. It is that lack of balance which so infuriates many on this forum. 12 Gary Neville seemed to share the disbelief that he did not take either that free kick or the later one taken by Mbia. He summarised correctly, in my view, that our only promising attacking threat came from Taarabt. If i recollect correctly he said It did not make much sense to him. 13 To summarise, you have allowed your own thread to degenerate into a tired old squabble about your favourite whipping boy. If you can refer me to one post where anyone has said that he had a good game as opposed to being one of the better performers in a sorry bunch overall, please do. It really is very tiresome to see that the power of the Mods is being invoked again when the truth is that no players came out with much credit from today's performance. 14 Granero's free kick was, not surprisingly 9given the fact he was still "cold", a very poor effort. Hs performance over the remainder of the game was unremarkable. What we've come to expect from a player whose head is clearly elsewhere. However he was no worse than anyone else. 15 I note that Queens has very wisely kept out of this. I hope Queenie, once you've seen the game that you agree with my overall summary.
Its on in a couple of hours. Couldnt be arsed to stay up and watched as i predicted 3-0 over on the liverpool board in that invite thread ! Gonna take some dealing in Jan to keep us up mate..may need to cal Delboy in too help Arry out !
No, Colin. He had the ball in acres of space on a number of occasions today and ran right into trouble instead of releasing it when he drew their players onto him. Its simple stuff we learn in the play yard. Dribble until you come up against one or two players and then release it to an unmarked team mate. Then run into space to receive the ball back if need be. Taarabt, on the other hand, was DIYing and losing the ball instead of passing it. He didn't do this all game to be fair. He did release it on a couple of occasions. But why can't he do that all the time? Since when did trying to shoot make you a great player? If someone tries to shoot yet can't find an area 8 foot high and 24 feet wide then there's something seriously wrong with those of you who think that's a good player. I feel like I'm in the twilight zone!
It will take a miracle now mate, we have left ourselves too much to do Anyway New Years Tomorrow and I'm gonna get smashed and forget about this mess
The reason he had so much space swords is because of the caliber of player he is now up against. Your right though he did have acres of space in the championship but the prem teams are wise to how he is our biggest threat.
The only time he got into acres of space was when he made that happen himself. Then he had zero options and no-one to pass to. Everyone around me said the same. He has to try to do stuff on his own because he's our only hope most of the time. When he runs at the opposition, he is the only one doing it. The opposition know he's our biggest threat. Most of our fans know he's our biggest threat. You.....................just know little about football!
I was not. Harry sent him on at that particular time to take the free. The thing that surprised me was Taarabt being allowed to take any of them. His free kicks and corners have been terrible all season. I WAS surprised at that. Someone who can't take frees shouldn't be surprised when someone else is given a go. Again, its playground stuff really. Which is more often the case than not. Now and again he plays really well to be fair. Roughly about once a month. Maybe they did but to me that was idiotic. Why would you want someone to continue to take your frees when he continually can't clear the wall? Scotland said so and a number of people agreed with him. Also, if fans were booing because he wasn't allowed to take the free then there's something clinically wrong with them. I didn't start ranting. I said that the fans infuriated me with their blind loyalty with their booing (although NINES reckons it was to do with the Liverpool wall!) and that Taarabt was useless again. Then came the people who said he wasn't and it all went from there. You find lack of balance infuriating? Well so do I. How on earth could anyone watch that game today and not want to throttle that lad for his wastefulness and bad decision making? Its the lack of balance from some of you, Yorkie, that I find infuriating. Lets not go down the Gary Neville route mate. According to COL, TV doesn't count! But he obviously hasn't seen Taarabt's lame efforts all season. If it was up to me, I'd never let him take one again. Why do you think Harry gave Granero and Mbia a go? I'm not quite sure I follow there mate. Are you saying that dissension against Taarabt should be a Modding offence? It was no worse than any of Taarabt's over the entire season. The only surprise is that he's been allowed take the set pieces for so long. To summarise Yorkie, I can't fathom why a lot of you think he's as good as you do and to be perfectly honest, the lad enrages me. I've always disliked players like him: Ones that promise so much but deliver so little. And I'm not alone either. Queens agrees and my retired old Dad who went down the Bush every week during the Bowles and Marsh era and really knows his football, thinks he's a dud too.
