We'll see after the game on Wednesday. One thing for sure though, Henderson over Shelvey any day of the week for me.

And the first goal brought a wee lump to my throat too - remember four year ago when a certain F Torres did that every other week? Some act to live up to, Sturridge.

We got the job done. I wouldn't say any more than that, because we already know what Liverpool can do to teams that give them time and space in possesion.

If Sunderland are similar to QPR and Fulham against us then I would expect another 3 points, but if they come out fighting like Villa then I will be more impressed should Liverpool beat them.

too early to say for me,

we got the job done against a very poor side, same as Fulham were poor.

football is good, but the consistency in games is lacking, just hope the loss of Enrique hasn't done too much damage.

  6. With Man Utd, Arsenal and Man City looming in the next five games, I'd say so!

i thought we again sat back or in other words gerrard was lazy and only moved when it suited him in the second half... should have been 6.... like fulham...

had we drawn the two games we franklyt got hammered in we'd have even been better off... as it stands i'd call today a decent display iluminated by two moments of genius.... we've lost enrique for a while, sterling was poor and allen was awful compared to where he was.... they are rock bottom so it was no more than decent. the second half left me wantying us to have done more but roll on sunderland

On this point; I'm no longer sure (and I've been one stating it as such) its laziness. I think his legs have gone and I emphasize this point ....completely. I don't think he has more than 30 minutes full Gerrard tilt left in him. There was a break late in the 2nd half and I could see on his face that his legs just couldn't carry him 40yards & pass(the pass was dreadful with no power when it was a relatively easy square ball). He was horrified. A young Gerrard wouldn't even have needed to pass. Gerrard 4 years ago would have at least successfully passed it without looking up.

I think the 'laziness' we are seeing is an attempt at pacing himself because he's been told he's not getting dropped. Be it because he's the captain, be it on his demand & BR isn't in a position of strength to oust him, be it (my bet) there is absolutely no one else. The rest of our CM to AM players can't in their 20's give over 90 full tilt what Gerrard gives half paced.

C'mon: the systems being played by BR cry out for the 3rd midfielder to grab it by the balls & claim Gerrards guaranteed start. They should with their own performances be highlighting that Gerrard is slowing the whol thing up. The fact they aren't is a disgrace to them.

So I've changed my call on Gerrard. Unless we buy in a world class replacement (we won't because we can't attract them) then we are stuck until we luck out with a cheap buy turned good or one of the current crop grow some. Paradox is, they'll never grow a pair while he's on the pitch to hide behind.

The rest? As I said, we expect wins against teams of that calibre. Progress will be if we beat all 9 of those teams next half of the season not just 3 of them. Throw in a scattering of wins against teams I class ahead of us and it turned into a good season development wise.

Best Liverpool have looked all season for me. I fancy you lot against United in 2 weeks time, they won't be able to live with Sterling and Suarez on that form and even Downing poses more a threat these days.

    Solid all round performance
