Must be something to do with Hoillet's attitude. I must admit, the way he strung us along for so long during summer whilst trying to get the best contract was a bit off. Harry mentioned people on the bench needing to have a better attitude, because if they were that good, they'd be playing. He could be one of those?
I think Harry knows this: 1) there are still 18 games to play for. 54 points 2) there are likely one or three players coming in that MAY shift the balance to our improvement. 3) there are some seriously bad teams out there as well as ours 4) at times we have played well enough to beat most of the poorer teams 5) that this is likely going to be a season where mid thirties may just be enough. I know it is crazily early but I have completed the BBC predictor and we are not by any means down yet.
Harry might not have given up but i have and we need to start rebuilding for next seasons campaign now. Players that can go for me in January are Green, Park, Boswinga, Diakate, Mbia, Ferdinand, Zamora, Johnson, Fabio, Trarore, SWP, Cisse. Players we should keep for the championship are Cesar and Taraabt (if they want to stay), Hill, Derry, Mackie, Eprahim (who should be hungry to prove a point), Nelson. Bring back DJ Campbell, Balanta and Troy Hewlett and get a couple of experienced pros in who are still hungry and give players like Doughty and Ehmer a run in the team etc. Im sure we will then start to get a bit of team unity going and with a good manager in Harry we can be quite competitive next season. As for today dont blame Harry for bringing on Derry for Cisse. Cisse is useless and did nothing in the first half to help the team. I reckon without that substitution it probably would have been 5-0.
Oh mate...........sorry. That sounds a bit deluded. No offence meant at all, but I'm so pissed off after travelling to watch a pile of **** yet again!
Well I'm not mate! I haven't forked out so much money to watch our players and then our manager throw in the towel!! Cisse got zero service in the first 45 minutes, so how can anyone blame him? If it was his attitude, which I didn't notice as bad today, then bring on Hoilett.......NOT a defensive midfielder. Change Diakite for Derry? Yes. Our only forward when we're 3-0 down? NO!! Then he brought on Fabio for the awful SWP and played the last 15 minutes with 5 at the back!! FFS....Harry!! Gutless all round!
In fairness, there have only been a few games this season where we have performed as badly as a team as today; Swansea, Saints, and perhaps West Ham. Most of our other games we were well in contention or had bad luck or refereeing decisions. There really is no point in turning the knife inwards at this point, every game is a fresh start. If we're going down, so be it, but let's try to look a little further down the road and not try to out-compete each other in piling misery down on our heads. After all is said and done three teams will be relegated, we won't be the only one.
Saints fan in peace. You will know if you are gonna survive or not when the transfer window closes, luckily for you, you have one of the best mangers at buying. Im certainly not counting you as down yet
Sorry col but we were never coming back from that. I was there and knew it xas all over after half am hour. I agree with your sentiment but we could have lost that 6 or 7 nil and had the same effect as that sort of score has done on villa
We all thought it was all over last season against Liverpool too. I will not accept just throwing in the towel! Unforgivable. Harry made a lot of mistakes today, starting with selecting SWP and Mackie ahead of Hoilett. Really, really pissed off with the lack of effort at our club.
Morning Col, I was nt able to go due to family wedding so only saw TV. I suspect the atmosphere was bleak. Do me a favour and do the predictor! It all hinges on what Harry does in transfer window and if he can nstill the Mackie spirit into the whole team. Of course it is the biggest ask in PL history!!
Afternoon mate. I know we're not down yet and I wasn't having a go at your optimism. Yeah, after their first goal yesterday the atmosphere was indeed very bleak.
Well said Do the predictor! its straight forward maths not everyone can win and some will go on a losing streak it has to happen that way. I DO KNOW WHEN WE WILL WIN AGAIN and if we don't then we are down. BUT ONLY WHEN WE ARE DOWN SHOULD WE EVEN TALK ABOUT IT IMO
thats the spirit, you can look at this 2 ways only won one game all season, or 18 games to go lots of very winnable games to play for, look at march and aprils games, harry gets a good center half, a decent striker who links up with the midfield who knows, it could be 35 points is enough, hard yes, impossible no
