This report was seen online today and suggests Debuchy may be close to signinig.

The deal is not yet official and yet, according to our information, Mathieu Debuchy will no longer Lille in 2013. While its leaders finalize this very moment the agreement with Newcastle (Premier League), who wanted to have his coming this summer, the side 27 years his business and prepares his departure. A page turns

This is the end of a beautiful story between a boy and thought of the club of his heart. Since starting this summer and missed, something was broken between Lille and Mathieu Debuchy. Since then, the side struggled to smile again and his best, although he eventually evacuate the frustration.
But then he thought to finish the season, despite his departure from the council of elders, despite the departure of Landreau, the side saw the situation accelerate suddenly Newcastle need reinforcements when he comes to collect eleven goals in two games against MU and Arsenal, Lille and need cash. This time, the two sides quickly agreed, at least in spirit, while the final details are resolved at this very moment.

According to a source close to the English case, the two clubs agreed a transfer would be in the order of € 6 million, and discussions are now focusing on the various bonus linked to this movement.
But the conclusion of the case is no longer any doubt will Debuchy Magpie for the coming years. It goes back Yohan Cabaye, his friend, with whom he had signed the championship and cup double in 2011. But also several French as Ben Arfa, Obertan or Marveaux.

Lille, which continues its economic transformation as we had suggested before the Christmas holidays, the departure of the French international will help relieve the financial and Sidibé offer the opportunity to express themselves more. Remains to be seen how the rest of the group will digest this new beginning of a frame. And if it will help recruiting in the offensive before the CAN, which is not at all certain.

Surely there's got to be more than Newcastle interested in him? Personally I just can't see this ever going through, even if we do want him.

If it did go through, we could do with another 3 defenders, so the shambles that is our "defence" never play together ever again! Think I'm dreaming on that though <wah>

To be fair we only have 5 out and out defenders and one of them is injured more than he is fit. Need at least 3 defenders including Debuchy if we get him.

I don't particularly trust French papers, they're as bad as English ones, only their reporters are hairier and sexier... Think Piers Morgan with cleavage.

Love this thread Ronson, it's given me hope... But having watched the last two matches, I have to warn you if that hope is squashed once more in the most brutal of circumstances (Debuchy joins Sunderland, Spurs, Arsenal or Liverpool), I will be in meltdown and it'll be your fault <wah>

REP in the meanwhile however for detective work <ok>

Sky Sports News quoted "sources at Lille and sources close to the player" on Sunday when reporting that agreement had been reached over a move from Lille to Newcastle for Mathieu Debuchy.

The 27 year-old French international right back is reportedly on his way to Tyneside in January for a fee Sky say is "in the region of €6m".

Small price to pay if you ask me, no only joking Gandalf. Just think of it though, Cabaye, Debuchy and Santon, at least we ladies have some eye candy to compensate for our terrible run of form lately.
Hope it's true and is only the start of more activity in this window. ,!!!

This is the first piece of the jigsaw.
He will sign, I know it.
We will then sign Douglas, Remy and another lesser know CB.
4 will arrive and one will leave.
I have seen the future.

http://www.caughtoffside.com/2012/1...al-to-sign-french-full-back-mathieu-debuchy/?

Newcastle have agreed a £5.5m deal to sign Lille full-back Mathieu Debuchy who is set to fly over to Tyneside in the next few days.
Debuchy is preparing to leave the club he grew up at and embark on a new phase of his career, but he will be welcomed to the club by former teammate Yohan Cabaye – who was also part of Lille’s double winning squad of 2011.
SOURCE: Clubcall
Newcastle United have been chasing Mathieu Debuchy for over six months, Alan Pardew’s interest in the right-back pre-dating his impressive display at the Euro 2012 finals and the fact that he is close friends with Magpies midfielder Yohan Cabaye may well have helped to finally get a deal done, or so this source states.
The 27 year old defender may well be considered a replacement for Danny Simpson, who is in the final year of his Newcastle United contract.
Having seen his side leak goals with alarming ease, 11 in the past two matches, Pardew may well have felt it was time to seal the deal to bring in the French international.
Lille have struggled to keep hold of their best talent following their Ligue 1 title success in 2010/11 with boss Rudi Garcia losing the likes of Gervinho, Eden Hazard, Cabaye and Moussa Sow to name just four.

Newcastle have agreed a deal to sign France international defender Mathieu Debuchy from Lille.

Press Association Sport understands the Magpies have finally reached an agreement with the Ligue 1 side on a six million euros transfer after failing to land the player despite protracted talks during the summer.

The 27-year-old, a former team-mate of midfielder Yohan Cabaye, has made no secret of his desire to head for Tyneside, and a resolution to the long-running saga would come as a huge relief to manager Alan Pardew.
