Going into a transfer window he is right to influence the transfer policy of the club. Saha and Pienaar at least gave their all for Spurs, unlike Bosingwa and Wright-Phillips. From what I read it was their lack of effort that he objects to. And quite right.
Treated badly? Levy stuck by him with the courtcase and through more than a year of him flirting with the England job. From what Spurcat said he also got a good deal out of the settlement because Levy didn't want to drag it out and because he also deserved it. It's disrespectful to have a dig at your ex-boss like that especially when you're exaggerating and you're the bloody reason he has 3 players he can't shift anyway. Whether it's buying big money players that a year later aren't in his plans or making player worthless by never playing them, he made it difficult for Levy at times.
Not sure it's a good idea to drag this up again (my fault) but this distraction thing is exaggerated. In practical terms what does it involve - instead of preparing the players, he was sat in the corner dreaming of the England job and what tactics he would employ? No, of course not. If he was distracted by anything it was the Court case and that was hardly his fault. As often stated on here, he got us 4th, 5th (CL qtr final) and 4th. I don't see grounds for sacking him in that. And his pay off is irrelevant. I liked the football we played under Harry and if there were things to put right this year because of how it tailed off, I would have backed him to put them right.
I wasn't talking about the effect on the team, just that it's poor of him to so clearly indulge in questions about the England job. I can understand why he'd want to as it's the job he always wanted but like Modric he should've just kept his mouth shut and got on with the job.
Villas-Boas plays it sensibly on Danny Rose when asked about a permanent move to Sunderland in January: "Completely impossible. We have big expectations for him in the future. Our idea is that he comes back to Tottenham next year."
Go on the QPR board and they all agree with Arry and his comments regarding the mess of the squad and players on daft wages, who disagrees with Arrys view? spurs fans that have an issue with him "mouthing off".
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think Spurs fans issue is with Harry mouthing off about Levy not about QPR.
Well depends, as at first it was, yet even when he makes remarks about QPR, he is attacked for that AND then comparisons are made about his conduct as a spurs manager. Can we not just accept Arry is always going to be a big "mouthy" personality, but essentially he's a good football man, that done a great job for us.
Not considering the position and potential of the squad he inherited. We won nothing and even Ramos managed that. Jol did a better job IMO because he started from a lower base and AVB is already on a par with little time and the loss of Modric and VDV. I'll change reasonable to good but not more because self promotion got in the way.
It may astonish some people on here to learn that Levy and his board were more than happy with Harry's "mouthing off" for pretty much all of his reign at Spurs. At the end of the 2010/11 season, Levy met with a select group of fans and was asked about how he felt with Harry constantly being in the media. He said he and the board were appreciative of the good and positive publicity the club were portrayed in. The club had suffered some dreadful publicity over the Martin Jol affair and welcomed the contrast with which the media were seeing us and this was acknowledged as being in the main down to Harry's media relationships. If things took a turn for the worse during the 11/12 season, and if so to how much, I don't know. But why so many people continue to get worked up over what Harry now says, is worrying.
AVB is already on a par ?????? You can't be serious ?? I've not looked at the league table after today's results, but certainly this morning, AVB had only managed 1 league win against a side in the top 8 of the PL, and 50 % of his victories had been against the bottom 5 teams.
I wouldn't expect Levy to say anything else about a man who was the current manager at the club, because unlike Harry he understands what diplomacy means. Why should it worry you OS the opinions of Harry are pretty much set as far as Spurs fans are concerned. His supporters continue to recall their reasons for rating him and people like me will continue to remind them of the other view. As long as Harry remains high profile this will probably continue. He will always get stick if he returns to the subject of Spurs. He moves on, we move on, he shuts up, we shut up. Simple!
I hesitate here! According to the stats provided by THFC6061 AVB is now ahead of last season in like for like fixtures. I hesitate because as is well known I am not an advocate for stats.
I don't need to mention Harry and what he achieved in any of my arguments as to why I don't care for AVB, so you have no need to remind me of any other view thanks very much Spurf.
To be fair OS I wasn't reminding you, I was replying to Boss. I accept and appreciate your support for Harry and I am sure you know my views.
How can you have last season like for like fixtures against Soton, Reading and QPR???...3 of our wins! That is what SC is on about, our ONLY top half scalp was United, our other wins are against the likes of West Ham, Liverpool, Fulham, Villa ...teams we beat last year, so this doesn't leave too many games left for their to be much of a difference. Like you said, you don't like stats, so not sure why you mentioned it.
Don't ask me ask THFC6061! Because these stats are the results of games which are after all the only valid stats. Without stats. I am happy to say that I think AVB is doing at least as well as Harry if not better and don't give me the exciting football bullshit.
