so after half the season gone (more than enough time to adapt to a new team) I seriously think Celtic pulled our pants down regarding this guy.
He loses the ball for fun and puts the back four under pressure.
when he comes on it feels like we've taken a player off and subbed the invisible man on.
His lack of desire, running, passing and teamwork makes him the second worst signing by ML (after useless Itay) for me.

I don't buy the argument that he is adapting to this league because he has played in Scotland (similar football culture and language) whilst Michu, pablo etc have come in and done the business from a totally different league speaking a different language.
If you were hired by a boss and failed to perform after half a year do you think you'd still have a job?

i know there are people who rate him but I really don't. What does the Jack army think?
Answers on a postcard please (or just post here really) <ok>

He does need to shape up or ship out quick now, he stands out as a weak link to often .

Actually could this thread be retrospectively turned into a poll? Anyone know?

Good player going through a bad spell.

Unlike Michu + Pablo this is Ki's first season of playing in high intensity matches against quality opposition week in week out.

He started off well for us, let's not forget his performance against Middlesbrough in the cup he came on and changed the game for us.

He's only 23, in time I'm confident he'll have proven to have been a good signing for us.

What happened to getting behind our players ey?

The fact is that if Hernandez and Michu didn't come in and do so well then everyone would be saying hes doing a decent job.

The lad has obvious class in his passing and shooting, just needs to get more consistency.

He hasn't come into a different football you're right, but he has come to a much better league which arguably takes more time to adapt too.

Give the lad some time and get behind him.

Too right mate we should be supportive of our players.

Ki has clearly got ability, he even produced a few moments today he played one excellent ball to Danny after a surging run from midfield.

I think the difference is that if Pablo or Michu had a bad game then we know they would be back at the races next time. Ki might play the odd decent ball from time to time but there are soooo many flaws to his game I gave up on him some time ago and he still hasn't proved me wrong.
given that he is one of our most expensive payers EVER he looks like a free signing from a championship club.
I hope he proves me wrong in future but he's had plenty of time to adapt and he is learning directly from one of the greatest players to ever grace a football pitch. What more does he need to pull his finger out?

we dont get the luxury of having players that dont come good consistantly over a long period in this league ala dg not doing as well as expected goals wise earlier on but if we are content that were safe then maybe keep playing him Ki till he gets it right but its frustrating waiting sometimes.
I do agree we should get behind " all our players" but strait after a game when hes played poor again i think you can vent your frustration on here whilst its still raw ?

My issue with him, besides inconsistency, is his apparent lack of effort at times. I think is was after 70 mins today, when after losing the ball DG was the one chasing back to defend as Ki jogged. If you'd just joined the game at that point, you'd think DG had just come one.

That said, he is young and has some time to improve, but at this time I have my concerns.

I'm a Ki fan. Very creative, but needs someone with him to do the donkeywork.

Ki has shown small, isolated periods of great poise on the ball and vision ..... but the problem is they have been small and isolated. And, when he's not concentrating he has the infuriating habit of playing a sloppy pass that goes straight to the foot of the opposition and what makes it even worse he then appears to hang his head a little and not say "**** it" and hussle to bite back and retrieve the ball. I can tolerate a bad pass every now and again especially if you are trying to be creative, but his bad passes seem to happen most as casual passes when he is not under pressure and then he doesn't get on his bike to make amends. This last part is not acceptable to me.

So he deserves to be worked with because his upside is visible, but the player has to want it too. Give it a season and he will either grow out of his bull **** or be replaced by better players and he'll move on or we'll move him on. There is always going to be a Championship club willing to part with a few million to pick up a player from the Prem.

I have kept my powder dry regarding Ki, because it's far too early yet, and it's no good saying he played in the SPL, as that's struggling to achieve championship standard, so let's see how his second half of the season goes, though at the minute, I would say we got rid of a better player in Orlandi!...........<ok>

Agree with Swanseacityno.10, vetch field, PGF etc.

I think Laudrup will want to polish him up rather than replace. Really can't see us spending a lot of money on another midfielder when it's the position we have most depth in.

Might be wrong but I have a hunch that Ki will turn out pretty special.

After the first few games he played, most were raving about him on here so we know he has the ability. He just needs to get back on form.
I also think he'll come good and this is just a dip in form from him.

The Spanish lads already played in teams who play a similar style to us.
Celtic, like just about every other team in the UK, play in a totally different way.

He is suffering from high expectations due to the transfer fee and the bright start he had.....everyone was raving about him after 3 games, one mate claimed he could play anywhere "sweeper, centre-back, behind the striker!" :)

I used to play centre-mid and in my opinion he has the raw ingredients to make a very good player.
With Allen and Siggy gone (and Orlandi/Dobbie) and Gower not getting any minutes, centre mid is the area that needs most time to gel.
It can be like learning to dance with someone. You have to get on each other's wave length and know how your partner/s move, what they like to do on the ball, which pass they are likely to select etc.
If you think your partner is going to come short and he spins around the corner to make a different angle you end up looking like you can't pass the ball 10 yards.

Bang on terror all the time I have seen him he has looked quality with a few mistakes granted but he can change a game look at boro we were lacklustre and cumbersome until he came on no issues with him whatsoever

I quite like ki myself but he has not mastered our way of playing yet but you can see he does have a bit of quality about him and eventually will get our playing style right. He is good in the air with his head but a bit slow with the quick passing we do... He has made us some money with the merchandise he has generated in his home land which is apparently huge. I dont know what sort of figures we are talking about here but we have a healthy following of korean fans and its all down to him.....I like the guy...

Ki is a quality football player. He has had some great games for us, admittedly he has been at his best the last couple of games. I have no doubt he will improve and continue to improve throughout his stay with us. But then some people always have to have a player to moan about. Move over Gower it appears that Ki will be taking over with some people.
