Completely amazed by some peoples mentality towards certain games. As i said before it doesn't matter what score you "would have taken before kick off". We yet again put ourselves in a position to get what would have been one of the best 3 points of the season for any team, we threw it away with a terrible second half performance and yet people are still pleased to have got 1 point. And a news flash for people saying Villa , Wigan West Ham and Fulham are worse than us...have you seen the table? we are the 3rd worse team in the league.
Some of you need to calm down. Personally, while a little disappointed we didn't win, I thought we were going to get dicked today. That result is a bonus.
POSITIVES: In hindsight a good result - I think we all would have taken a point before the match. We scored 3 goals - after only scoring 2 in the last 4, questions had begun to be asked about our attack. Jay Rod finally shook his awful one-goal nickname. Villa lost again - I am almost certain they will finish below us this season. Guly proved his critics wrong with a sensational display (just disappointing he missed his chance for a goal) NEGATIVES: We let another lead slip. We've lost 17 points from winning positions so far this season, that's unacceptable. Davis looked incredibly shaky in goal again today, kept coming for the ball and was consistently beaten by Kenwyne.
you really are daft aren't you?. I never said it changes the value of 1 point. I said it changes the perception of 1 point. 1 point is now a poor result because we were 2 goals up at half time.
10 men really didn't change the game that much at the time it happened. Stoke were going to throw all their forwards on and pump balls into the box and take advantage of their size regardless. It left them more open to a counter, but that wasn't happening. Saints needed everyone back because they were outmatched. They are just not that good a team in the air. And they actually played pretty decently and in fact Stoke never got that header/junkball goal they were looking for. Instead Cameron Jerome scored on a crazy half-volley out of nowhere. And if you're going to base your tactics around guarding against oddball wondergoals you'll lose every game. It does hurt to lose the 2 points given the upcoming schedule. But it's been like this all season and it's going to be like this probably the rest of the season. Every point lost hurts. But conversely every point gained helps a lot, especially against Stoke. Just have to stay patient. I was more frustrated about Norwich and Sunderland, tbh.
Quite a few positives to take from that, but still hugely disappointing to draw after being 3-1 up. Well done Nige though, great tactics, just a shame we couldn't handle the pressure of the last 20 minutes.
It's one more towards our target, whatever that may be, regardless of how we feel right now. Any away game that doesn't end in defeat is a decent game in the long run.
