I have to agree. But that doesn't stop me having an issue with people who turn have an issue with Adkins. We're not very good, Stoke are very good, and Stoke had absolutely nothing to lose in that second half. Adkins did nothing wrong for me, whilst I can understand why our players appeared to retreat further back and just couldn't get any sort of grip on that second 45 minutes. But ultimately yes, there is every chance that we will live to regret dropping those two points. We need an unexpected win or two somewhere along the line.
Really? Then why not Guly off for Fox. Guly was great first half but last 30 mins questionable - almost gifted Crouch a goal too boot. Shaw had a shaky first 15 mins but grew into the game. Tactics are questionable because people are questioning it! Bar a brilliant equaliser, how did we let them back into the game?? Having said that, they should have had a penalty and Fonte off, so thinking like that a point is good. Gutted as I see it as 2 points dropped overall.
Well, it does mean that we are giving some of the best teams in the world a run for their money. I'm proud of that personally.
Oh, I don't have an issue with Adkins at all. He's perhaps the main reason we have got the points we have this season. I have an issue with our players kicking away the ball straight back to the opposition when they have a built up a head of steam. Suicidal.
we let them back into the game by literary handing the ball to them every time we got it, it was like watching a game of hot potato
We drew as Stoke scored a wonder goal, we didn't lose and still got a point. Yes I feel we should have won having been 3-1 up, but how many of you thought we would even get a point?. I bet hardly any of you, so the point is a bonus point for me.
good point. Must be some sort of record. I'll resist saying that we were minutes away from going above Villa, who are a woeful side.
A good result given who we were playing - given their home form. That said, we have once again failed to hold onto when in a winning position. Ultimately is Adkins responsible - he seems unable to manage changing tactical situations. I feel that substituting Puncheon with Richardson was an error - he should have reinforced the defence by taking off Lambert and dropping Yoshida in front of Fonte and Jos and kept playing the ball down the outside channels as an outlet - especially when they went three at the back. Its a little like last week at Fulham when they got nervous and started dropping deeper into their own half and giving the ball away - they were there for the taking and yet Jay was brought on with only 12 mins to go.
I'm not having a go at you in the slightest - partly because Fox for Guly briefly went through my mind too - but this just shows the position that Adkins was in. You got some posts criticising Adkins for seemingly going too defensive in the second half, and yet now here you've got the suggestion of why he didn't bring on a LB for a forward player.
Funny how all those who remember the Guly miss on the volley on his wrong foot, seem to have completely forgotten Rodriguez missing a one-on-one, middle of the goal from 10 yards out seconds before. Equally poor miss.
only on current league position...West Ham will sink like a stone and Villa are ****e, from what I've seen Wigan and Fulham aren't better than us...just my opinion though...
