Although I am yet to see a photo of Chris Woods holding up a Leicester shirt I am given to believe this is a done deal - I along with all right minded Leicester fans welcome a very much in form Woods to the club and hope he continues his recent scoring feats. But taking a moment to review players who are already here but not making a contribution, or not making the expected impact I note there are some players with exceptional reputations, such as Neil Danns - If he wasn't already a Leicester player and we were signing him in the transfer window, we'd be ecstatic Jermaine Beckford - As above Paul Gallagher - We'd be saying he's an international with a great pedigree Jamie Vardy - 34 goals in 38 games last season means he knows where the goal is and his work rate and reading of the game means he does still add value to our game - But if we're honest with ourselves, we really expected (probably unrealistically) more from him So onto our reported newest recruit - Welcome and stand tall as the confident talented player you are, maintain that and who knows, you might just be standing tall and confident at Old Trafford next season
Danns indiscipline and use of social media had upset Nigel along with other things. The way King and Drinkwater started the season would he even have got into the side? Beckford's lazy attitude was never going to win Nigel round. He only scored 9 league goals all last season so he isnt as good as people make out Gallagher I think can still add something to the team Vardy took a big jump from the Blue Square premiership to the Championship. He started the season well and scored a few goals but recently he just hasnt looked up to it. It could be for a number of reason, injury taking its toll, the jump up standard, not good enough, loss of confidence etc One player you forgot is Richie Wellens, we should be using him like Sven used Matt Oakley. Bringing him on late in games when we need to close them out. His experience could prove to be invaluable as we have a very young midfield
If we're starting to utilise 3 in the midfield then Wellens is a very useful player in one of these positions. Remember our last surge into the play-offs featured a 3 of Wellens, King, Oakley and then later, Spearing.
Or the year Sven came in Wellens, King and Abe with Oakley backing them up was quality and was they was the main reason we got close to the play offs
SSN announced on "Breaking News" that WBA & Leicester have announced that Woods transfer to Leicester has been "agreed in principle" and is expected to go through in January
When its on SSN and BBC sites, this is my confirmation, the only thing that could happen now is that the deal could fall through, but its very unlikely.
The only reason the deal hasn't been completed is his registration can't be changed over until Jan 1st. We need to hope the FA do it pretty quickly on New Years do so that he can play against Huddersfield
Didn't Howard and Oakley play on New Year's Day when we brought those two in from Derby? It is certainly possible.
We signed Howard and Hayles on loan for 1 day so that they could be registered in time for QPR who we played on New years day
Is that possible though? Isn't the loan window closed now? And surely we'd have done that already really, he could have played today.
We signed them on loan for new years day and then signed them on permanents on the 2nd. Its alot quicker processing loan moves http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/l/leicester_city/7166178.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/l/leicester_city/7165982.stm
I remember the other year I went to Blackpool when Dickov scored a last minute goal for them. Barry Hayles was playing left wing and he was all of 5 yards in front of me for the majority of the 2nd half. Some fans next to me wouldnt stop telling him how **** and fat he was. Barry must of heard everything the poor sod
Always wonder how much they hear the chanting. My cousin, who's an Exeter City fan, claims that when Manchester United came down there for an FA Cup tie, he called Ryan Giggs a ****er when he was taking a corner- who turned around and gave him an earful.
Yeah, my mate shouted a bang out of order comment to Harry Rednapp and Harry went mental, he had to be restrained
That's right, Oakley was later on in Jan. I wonder if we'll do this again? No big deal if we can't, I think we should be beating Huddersfield at home with the existing team.
I don't think we were that convincing at Burnley today - We're definitely low on confidence at the moment in some quarters
This result will boost us though. Good to get back on the score sheet and get our first win in nearly a month.
