Bale has about 5 bookings, solely from diving. Miles ahead of any and every other player.

But he runs so fast that any slight contact would send him flying... <whistle>

  7. Apparently, Bale has made a statement. Something along the lines of 'three times I have been booked for simulation this season when I have been clipped'. Can we take this as an admission that the other two were blatant dives then...? <whistle>

  9. Now there is a scary thought, how many of his dives are missed since the media aren't witch hunting him?

Think it's to do with the beef between them to last season In the 1st fixture Adam was late in a challenge. And the day before the 2nd fixture Bale spoke to the papers Saying that Adam had it in for him and that Adam was going to break his legs

Yorke and Allen are now defending the diving twat, "ex pro's can tell if their diving or not" and the refs can't? they'll have to ref it from the stands soon!

Make it a semi-contact sport again, tell players to man up and stop being pathetic wimps. Laugh at them when they go to ground and let play continue.

    Simples.

Zero advantage to being a strong, powerful player these days, opposition just throw themselves to the ground and get the decisions most the time.

    Defoe dived. Should've been booked.
Bale didn't. Been booked 3 times in a row for being fouled.

At the very least, that's not a dive, even if you don't think it's a foul.

He needs to just stop going down completely now. His reputation is so bad that he never wins anything anyway and he's helped to create it with his own behaviour.

  16. That's what reputations do for you. Suarez is fouled most weeks without anything given because he has a reputation. Fair enough, Bale doesn't dive as theatrically but he is just as much an offender and needs to deal with it. Suarez still dives but not as much as he did, he still doesn't get anything because he needs to change the reputation. The only way that is possible is to stay on your feet unless it is physically impossible!

Also, that footage is a little frustrating as it stop a second too early. His right leg gets very slightly knocked to the left and just as that footage ends you can see him pulling back to the right. Could he have stayed upright?

I think Suarez is starting to wise up a bit now - against Stoke he stayed on his feet that bit longer than usual and I think that helped him get the pen when he might have been booked if he'd gone down at the first tug. That's probably something that works against Bale - Suarez is usually trying to take players on and dribble round them so there's more chance of a longer lasting contact, whereas Bale is just legging it so there's less scope for contact.

Still a definite foul for me - Gardner goes into his knee and has a cheeky (and deliberate) tug at his waist after Bale has gone past which is enough to knock him off balance and take the sting out of his run. But Bale is creating this problem for himself - his reputation is such that defenders now know they can get away with little tugs and knocks and if he goes down he'll be seen as a diver so they can get away with it. Same with Shawcross (IIRC) on Suarez last game - he probably figured Suarez would fall at the first tug and he'd get away with it, wasn't expecting Suarez to carry on until the shirt pulling became obvious.

Like I've said before - Suarez and Bale are just going through the same learning curve as Ronaldo, Drogba, Nani et al re the media and the image it creates in the minds of referees. They're going to have to accept the little fouls in order to get free kicks and pens for the big ones, and learn how to force opponents to make bigger fouls on them rather than letting them beat them with little tugs and flicks.

This one is A DIVE AND A PENALTY,there is contact and so it shudda been a pen, however as soon as Bale is touched his reaction is to lift both his legs off the floor, making it impossible to stay on his feet, he could have stayed on his feet in this sitaution IMO, but he decided to go to ground to try and win the pen, ironically the exaggerated way in which he fell made the ref think there was no contact and so didnt award it

    Not a penno for me.

He went down like a sack of **** after minimal contact and got rightly booked.
