Good result. Awful decision on Bale, he will never get a penalty now.

I agree, yet Suarez's penalty he got against Stoke has no complaints. He showed outside the area he was able to play on despite being fouled yet miraculously as soon as he got into the box he lost both feet after contact on his shoulder. The same people that say it's a dive will also say things like "he had a right to go down there" in similar situations.

My view on the Bale one is that he should play on but if you want to book people for going down easy then you have to start booking everyone that goes down easy. That's the only problem I have with it.

thought Walker looked really flakey...adebayor and defoe were off their game...
lennon was outstanding as was sandro...lloris was very good...thought Naughton looked good on the whole...Dawson played well too...we need to sort out our set pieces though

  5. Well, we beat the team that beat £ity, so that can't be bad for our chances at a top 2 or 3 finish <ok>

What the hell do you want? Do you enjoy just being critical? We won the game by a mile, the scoreline doesn't nearly suggest the gulf in class between the teams. There is no such thing as a perfect performance, if you're waiting for one you'll continue to be disappointed. I simply can't understand all this negativity!!!!!

Oh... and by the way we're THIRD IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE.

Go on, tell me Chelski have two games in hand, go on, I dare you.

Bale had his knee knocked...it caused him to fall... therefore not a dive ... therefore not a booking.

Bale has dived in the past and I ain't defended them but this booking and the past 2 have been a joke.

Considering they defended Walcott's dive on MOTD as 'contact so he had every right to go down' let's see the comment about Bale. Aren't refs clever - Bale goes down, book him! Forget about the serial divers in the PL.

Well to be fair, they do.

I will take a win up north all day long, especially as we outplayed them for long periods and, if we'd been more clinical (at least 3 good chances, 2 for Ade, were missed) then we'd have coasted home.

I think that's the problem - our chance -> goal ratio is shocking and has been for seasons.

I think it was right to book Bale, OK he was caught but he could have stayed on his feet, he chose to go down. Football is a contact sport, someone should tell him that. JD should have been booked for the same. Cuelar should have got a straight red for the tackle on Lennon, it was bloody awful with studs up. However, I'm glad he wasn't as he wouldn't have been there to score the own goal. Their keeper played a blinder. You could say that both JD and Ade should have scored but the keeper did his job. All in all we were the best side but were lucky to win. We give away too many silly freekicks and tart around in the midfield too much passing the ball backward. AVB should fine any player who passes the ball backwards. The one major plus point is that Naughton, who I used to think wasn't up to playing in the Prem is getting better and better each match he plays. Walker needs to be careful when Benny returns from injury or he might find himself warming the bench. The ref was bloody awful for both sides.

Huh? I'm one of the positive ones! There were of course positives in that performance but we put unnecessary pressure on ourselves through silly fouls and missed a lot of chances to put the game beyond doubt. The first goal when Cuellar put the ball into his own net under 0 pressure was lucky for us and given the chances we created I don't think we should be looking back at the game where that lucky goal was what clinched us the 3 points.

Also if you can find me where I've said that I wasn't happy with the result or anytime in the past where I've said I wasn't happy with the league position then fair enough but you won't find that as I've always said the opposite. My problem was that there were lots of problems within that performance.

I was slagging Dawson off all game, Boss. He made a few stupid challenges and hit the ball long to nobody too many times, giving away possession cheaply.
He did some things well, but he made a lot of mistakes. Hasn't had much of a run this season and missed virtually all of last, so perhaps I'm being too harsh, but it wasn't one of his better days, for me.

Compared to last season, after 20 games, we're 9 points worse off, scored 2 fewer goals and conceeded 6 more.

    Last season: P20, W14, D3, L3, Goals scored = 38, Goals conceeded = 20
    This season: P20, W11, D3, L6, Goals scored = 36, Goals conceeded = 26

Considering that's with a new manager with several big players leaving I don't think that's too bad.

I never slagged Ade off, I just said that it doesn't work having him and Defoe trying to alternate upfront, which I've been saying for awhile. As for Dawson, he gave the ball away a few times because he hoofed the ball up the pitch and then gave away dangerous freekicks in the second half. Walker and others were guilty of it too but when you've got Vertonghen on the bench and Dawson struggling to keep up with the game it becomes frustrating. For the record I think Dawson's a fine defender and I'm happy to see him line up against sides who pose and aerial threat upfront but when he's dealing with players like Sessegnon he's not up to the task unless we sit deep.
