It gives me no pleasure in saying that this seasons's City TEAM & Management HAVE PRODUCED THE LEAST ENTERTAINING FOOTBALL SINCE THE DOLAN/FISH era. The performances speak for themselves. Whilst it is true that the turmoil at the start of the season made it difficult for Pearson, he has shown that he and his coaching staff have shortcomings with un-imaginative tactics and a lack of insight into the teams real problems (eg. no priority given to strengthening midfield in January window). A severe cull of players is needed with some like TC being told they are in the last chance saloon. Whilst the ALLAM's are right to leave running the club to experts, they could do to set say to AP & NP that the gate receipts are still important to the club finances and fans expect entertaining. If entertainment is not delivered there will be consequences.
This has been rather done to death now, there's no doubt that we need to have players capable of playing more attacking football, I don't think anyone is more aware of that than Nigel Pearson.
Just how many of these perfomances have you cared to see for yourself? The priority in the window was to get a back up central defender and we signed Hobbs and to strengthen the mis-firing front line and we signed Fryatt and McLean Cairney did well on Saturday when he came on (was you actually there to see that, no thought not) and when in the team instead of Harper has given the midfield more of a balance. He can't use his talent if not given the chance. Like your good self?
This guy is worse than TWF, no way can it be the same person. Who do they think we would get to replace the management team who would do a better job? Get behind the lads and quit moaning FFS
And it gives me no pleasure in saying that you certainly haven't watched many games in the subsequent eras??? I'm older then your grandad but I have never been as optimistic as I am now, having seen both the team and management pulling a rabbit out of a hat following the previous regimes total ineptness.
OLM you are a good man with good posts but I don't think the role of a moderator to discourage posts. The season ended only on Saturday and I have refrained from any negative post prior to the end of the season. It is not unreasonable I think for an individual member to make one post that weighs up the season as a whole? Anyway, I will forgive you this time I have no idea as to Beverley Tiger 's wavelength I have seen all those home performances plus some away and not missed too many matches since 1963. I have been through the highs of the mid - 1960's 30,000 plus crowds and seen them dwindle to less than 3,000 under Dolan/Fish and don't wish to see those days again but poor quality football will drive people away now just as it has done before. Perhaps I should change my name to Voice of Experience
I'm certainly not trying to discourage anyone from posting, it's just this topic has a couple of threads already and I don't think there's a single City fan who's happy with our home performances, or who doesn't see the need for change.
We need a bit of flair in the team, what we don't need is loads of whingers bringing down the atmosphere at the KC because they don't get champagne football every week, I respect the views of older folks but the home atmosphere needs ramping up 100percent if we are going to get some success back at the club.
We've had more atmosphere than usual at the last few games but the players have been successful in killing it every time. It's not about champagne football, it's about the players and manager looking like they actually want to win the game, because they certainly haven't at home this season.
Totally agree. We don't need a 5-4 every game, I'd take 1-0 all day as long as the players look like they actually want to win.
i was thinking this yesterday, never before i have been glad for a season to be over..usually the summer saturdays are a drag, but im looking forward to them this year and am in no hurry for august..even when we where a sack of **** at the bottom of the football league, i still loved going... last 2 performances pissed me off more then any, despite them being meaningless....the pressure was off, and it was a chance to give the fans a bit of cheer and hope for next year at least, and it was 2 absolutely dog **** depressing performances,..the 1000+ that travelled to bristol where mugged off completely...
I feel the same, but if you consider in the seven seasons prior to this, we've had 3 promotions, 3 seasons avoiding relegation and 1 actual relegation. This is the first season since moving to the KC where there hasn't been too much drama. I'm pretty sure we're in for an exciting summer anyway, and come this time next year we'll be back to wishing the season wouldn't end.
Spare a thought for Wycombe fans, if you want goals. They've not scored 5 goals in a game since 4th January 2003. They've not scored 6 goals in a game since 12th October 1991.
To be fair, they did have Peter Taylor in charge for a bit, so that explains why goals were in short supply even whilst doing well in League Two.
NP has stated himself he needs more quality.. it's no secret we don't score enough goals. on the other hand we wouldn't have equalled the club record 17 away games unbeaten without the "boring" tactics.. I think the Donny game was exciting, then we played well QPR second-half but you could see the players 'knew' they had to win that, OK the fans thought a draw was a good result - it normally would be.. but the motivation went after that game - Palace & Brizzie were evidence of it..
