Defeat at home to West Brom on Boxing Day left the Loftus Road outfit bottom of the Premier League, with just one win under their belts this season. QPR fans took to the social media site to vent their feelings, with one telling Fernandes, "You must take responsibility for this shambles." However the Malaysian, a frequent user of Twitter, was quick to defend what he sees as the progress being made by the club and responded directly. "No one else should take the responsibility of QPR plight than me. I am chairman and the buck stops with me. Period." Fernandes, who took over at QPR in August 2011, later added in a separate Tweet: "Reading some of the rubbish on Twitter. Club is being rebuilt. We inherited little. "New training ground coming. New stadium. New coaching. New youth recruitment. Good commercial team. So keep the faith."
Yeah i read that and there were some out of order posts to TF, but, he also got a lot of backing. Basically saying that he did his bit but just trusted the wrong man. dont think its his fault for trusting a conman !...clueless f**K
I will keep faith in TF until the moment he walks away (hoping he does not). What choice do we have??
If he is true to his word there is a lot to be thankful for in the long run. Hopefully we will look back in a few years time and regard this season as a short term blip.
Tony has been very naive but hopefully has learned from his terrible initiation into football club ownership.
We are so, so, SO lucky to have Tony as Chairman. Sure, he has made mistakes but many of us would have made the same mlstakes and worse. He has put much of his hard-earned fortune on the line for us and our club. It must be really tough getting so little in return, other than some morons tweeting him with abuse. Leave him alone fellahs, in case he starts to think it's not worth the aggravation.
Totally agree. I don't know why people would have a go at Tony. All he did was back his Manager 100%. Isn't that all we ever wanted from our Chairman? Hughes fitted him right up.
We should all get behind the club and show them are support, following this club is ingrained in it's fans (I have followed the Superhoops since the 1970's. I am not glory hunting Northerner. We R QPR we R QPR
http://www.forbes.com/sites/ericjac...its-of-spectacularly-unsuccessful-executives/ Lets hope he's not one of them. We know Hughes can be considered as one.
Tony is big enough to admit the buck stops with him, refreshing in an age where too many 'Chiefs' blame everyone else. If we have to take one step backwards to repair the damage and put a more realistic team plan in place then so be it. Tony will be judged in the next two or three years when the stadium will be a more realistic prospect...
I think his intentions were always good, he just needed a bit of guidance. There are not many owners (if any) in the PL that are willing to take on board the views of fans/supporters and be so transparent. He may have got it wrong, but he'll learn from the mistakes and the club will better off long term irrespective of survival. I can't say I know too much about your previous owners but they never struck me as people that genuinely cared for the club or had time for anybody but each other. If I'm eventually wrong I'll hold my hands up but I think your in safe hands with him as owner no matter what happens this season.
What more could Fernandes have done? A chairman that backs his manager and listens to fans is a rare thing. All spleens should be firmly vented towards Hughes.
Agree with all the comments backing our Tone. I can't see where naivity comes into this. He trusted Hughes and his team, and based on record this was a fair call. Tony's a big man, if he's here for the long haul, all the better for us. Just wish I knew what the Mittals are contributing.
Not that I want this , I don't, I do not want the soul ripped from our club but they could buy us the title and not even miss the money.
I think he was naive in trusting Hughes and his contacts completely and not getting some independent advice on what was being proposed.
The Mittals see this as an investment more than Tony Fernandes does. Or at least Lakshmi does. Amit Bhatia seems to be genuine enough but I doubt whether he can influence his father in law when it comes to finances. Tony does deserve our full support but equally he should not feel so wounded every time someone criticises him. That is part and parcel of being open and welcoming communication from the fans. Just as some on here need to listen and accept that others may not agree with their point of view, TF should not feel the need automatically to put down as rubbish everything that is said about his decisions in the past or those of his chosen manager.
