Er, actually mate I think it was because when he wasn't scoring goals before walking down the City tunnel, he was dribbling and shooting - up Osman's missus's love-tunnel. Not really good for ones career, Porking the boss's wife! He was lucky in my book - people have died for less.
Torn between Andy Cole, Bob Taylor, and Jacki - Andy obviously went on to have the best career - but I think Bob Taylor shades it for me, as he did so much for the community while he was here. Alternatively could we have 3 up front?!
Put Gow and Hunter in the spine and you could play a front 5 Whitehead, Taylor, Ayteo, Ritchie, Murray and you would have Jaki, Cole, Maynard etc in reserve That might stand a chance against the mighty teams of the Prem But can you imagine a best of Man U, or Arsenal, or in fact any of the established Prem sides - awesome
Andy Cole...without a doubt, can you emagine that...Atyeo/Cole strike force, no worries about clean sheets with those two up front!!!
Kevin Mabbutt - hatrick v Man U at Old trafford to win 3-1. a virtuoso performance and Tom Ritchie 4 goals v Middlesboro .. desserve a mention.
I think the four against Boro were scored by Joe Royle on his debut and mybe on loan before he signed permanently. Good shout for Mabbutt. I was surprised on the Rovers board that neither father Ray Mabbutt nor Kev's brother Gary Mabbutt made their team.
Ahhh i was there at Man u when Mabbutt hit the hatrick, joe royles 4 goals where fantastic never forget both games. But my special all time game Coventry 2-2 and we both stayed up,amazing night that was.
I have wonderful memories of both matches. Winning at Old Trafford, second time in three or four seasons and all their miserable Manc faces contrast so much with Coventry where it was almost like a "love-in" between all fans of both genders at the end of the match. I think the Coventry game is my favourite memory of all time watching City since 1950.
'I think the Coventry game is my favourite memory of all time watching City'. Ditto. Arsenal away that season is the nearest.
For me its got to be Super Bob Taylor. Pure class. Andy cole, Jaki, Walshy all have had me on the edge of my seat but Super Bob up there with the best ever to wear the shirt!
