I may be proved wrong but, having watched the race live (and I was cheering him as the likely next Gold Cup winner), I came away with the impression that Flemenstar would have no chance in the Gold Cup. He seemed to be going very well today but started to fold like a non stayer. I fear the Cheltenhem hill will be too much for him.

Oh hold on just hit two 180s

Oh nevermind missed the double :( broken already, though i can see a few going against the throw in this one.

Jackpot not a bad shout, very talented when he can bring it all together.

I'm no Barney to win it outright, but I still think its pretty open. Taylor is probably still a worthy favourite. When Taylor's on song he's unplayable, though we haven't seen him on song so far

MVG is a talent, but I don't trust him when the pressures on. He played sublime in the grand slam against average opponents, but when the pressure was on in the final against a top class opponent like Barney his game dropped a few levels.

I just feel once he comes up against a player that can put him under serious pressure he will fold. So far he's just come up against nobodys:biggrin:

Fair play Taylor isn't a nobody but he didn't show up, only averaging in the early 90s. Wes Newton? Oh please

When another player averages in the 100s against MVG he will let it affect him, and won't be able to play his own game

Newton is ranked 6 in the world. I take it you don't watch any of the tournaments that are "not majorly televised" then <ok> so there are 5 better players in the world and you are giving him the "please" factor.

Pretty difficult to watch them if they're not on the tele! Rankings can be taken with a pinch of salt in most sports. Serena Williams wins most of the big tennis tournaments yet she's well down the rankings. Donald and Westwood have both been world number 1 holders despite the fact they've never won a major tournament. Where is Barney ranked despite winning the grand slam? He's not even in the top 8.

Need I go on, it's performances in the big tournaments that count, not being consistent in the Mickey Mouse events that nobody remembers:biggrin:

They are on sports sites and highlights are available. She doesn't play every tournament though most of the lads in darts play when they can apart from Taylor and Gary Anderson really. Barney <laugh> <laugh> this debate is over have you watched RVB play the last few years ?. He is only just returning to form and the ranking will go up at the end of this tournament. He looks brilliant again but his form has been embarrassing for a player with his ability.

I know he has been playing crap for a few years, but he came back to form in the grand slam, an event that isn't ranked. So he is clearly alot better than his ranking suggests, as his big win this season has been ignored by the rankings system. That's why I take rankings with a pinch of salt.

Barney is a far better player than Newton on the big stage, but the rankings would tell you otherwise:biggrin:

Anyways Hamilton is just giving this to Taylor. Taylor isn't even playing that well, Hamilton is just letting the Fact he's playing Taylor get to him:biggrin:

I think MVG will get to the final, but he won't beat whoever he plays wether that be Barney or Taylor.

I'm hoping its Barney, as I'm on him at 20s but you'd probably have to still make Taylor favourite to beat MVG in the final
