Human Rights Watch has acknowledged that terrorists killed civilians in Gaza during Operation Pillar of Defense when rockets being fired into Israel fell short.

“Rockets that fell short of their intended targets in Israel apparently killed at least two Palestinians in Gaza and wounded others,” Human Rights Watch said.

The specific case mentioned in the report involves the four year-old boy used as a political tool by Egyptian Prime Minister Hesham Kandil during his visit to Gaza.

Holding back tears, Kandil kissed the boy’s lifeless body as he was presented him by Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh. Kandil said,”What I saw today in the hospital, the wounded and the martyrs, the boy … whose blood is still on my hands and clothes, is something that we cannot keep silent about.” At the time Israel strongly denied being involved in the boy’s death.

In the report Human Rights Watch places blame squarely on terrorists in Gaza for the boy’s death. “Some rockets launched by Palestinian armed groups fell short and struck inside Gaza. On November 16, a rocket that appears to have been launched from within Gaza hit a crowded street in the Gazan town of Jabalya, killing a man, 23, and a boy, 4, and wounding five people.”

The report, released Monday, accuses terror groups in Gaza of violating the laws of war. It states: “Under the laws of war, parties to an armed conflict are required to take all feasible precautions to protect civilians under their control from the effects of attacks and not to place military targets in or near densely populated areas. Human Rights Watch has not been able to identify any instances in November in which a Palestinian armed group warned civilians to evacuate an area before a rocket launch.”

It's a sad fact that while this image initially made the front pages around the world, the truth to this tragic story will barely be reported.

    As Mark Twain once remarked:

A lie can go around the world while the truth is tying-up its bootlaces.

Who are Human Rights Watch? Who governs them and what is their background? Where do they get their funding?

NGOs are not unknown to be economical with the truth when it suits. <ok>

See Hamas, this is what happens when you fire rockets. If only you'd stop, then there'd be minimal bloodshed and the Israelis could suffocate and starve you to death in peace <ok>

How strange that since the re-establishment of Israel in 1948, not a single "Palestinian" has ever starved to death.

Your sympathies would be better placed for those who really deserve it.

I don't think I'll take your word on this, but if it makes you feel better I'll exchange 'starve' with shoot and crush.

Strange since the Israeli calorie count food limit was introduced it is documented that 10% of Palestinian children suffer lasting effects from malnutrition. And you don't think one child would have died as a result? Your blinkered brainwashed stupidity would be funny if people like you weren't actually in positions to cause such misery to whole populations

FYI, the nutritional needs for Gaza are set by the United Nations, not Israel.

Food, which is supplied by Israel, is distributed in Gaza by UNRWA.

On 4 February 2009, UNRWA halted aid shipments into the Gaza Strip after it accused Hamas of breaking into a UN warehouse and stealing tonnes of blankets and food which had been earmarked for needy families.

But, of course, you knew this without me telling you.

    This is pathetic THFC6061.

You are deadly quiet and deny when the scummy Israeli troops murder and kill thousands of Palestinians kids but go out of your way to make a thread when Hamas accidently kill a couple.

    Typical pro-Israel propaganda.

Agree, both are so blinkered in their views that if either see a story that can make the other side look bad, then will happily make a thread about it and try and push their views onto others.

I would strongly disagree with your statement that the IDF murderers thousand of Palestinians - kids or otherwise.

If you want mass murder on an industrial scale, just look at what the Muslims are doing to each other in Syria - 45,000 dead and counting in a little over 18 months.

Neither. It's is a proxy geo-political war pitting Saudi Arabia, Qatar, US, UK et al on one side utilising a whipped up Sunni population and foreign al Qaeda jihadists and Iran, Russia and to a lesser extent China on the other utilising the incumbent government.
Each have their own reasons for the stance in the conflict. Israel want Syrias advanced anti-air capabilities neutralised to facilitate a straight run at Iran removing huge logistical barriers to going "the long way round", Iran support the regime for this very reason.
Russia want to maintain a toehold in the Mediterranean which their naval base in Tartus provides, the west want this out of the way. Also interesting is the difference in stances of America in terms of the Syrian dispute and Barbarian dispute where the US 5th fleet is stationed.
Qatar have a proposed multi-billion dollar natural gas pipeline to the Med with Turkey. It needs to go through Syria that is why they have got involved, trouble is Iran has a similar pipeline planned, worth a similar amount which will reduce the effect of the sanctions, to the Med destined for the Syrian Mediterranean city of Latakia going through Iraq. That is why Qatar and Turkey have got involved on the side of the "rebels" and Iraq, while not publicly stating, are sympathetic to the Syrian gov't.
Saudi Arabia, however, will throw their support behind any cause which will reduce the sphere of influence of Shia Iran and expand a Sunni sympathetic sphere of influence. The spread of hardline Salafism and Wahabism is just an added bonus to them. Have I missed anyone out?
