This woman complained despite being parked illegally, and that two young children died that day in a car crash, but she still complains, about a scratch on her car. I would be annoyed if it happened to me, but i wouldn't go to the press about it. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...bus-crashed-Boxing-Day.html?ito=feeds-newsxml http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/watfordfc/watfordfcnews/10130019._/? http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/Watf...ged-team-bus/story-17699418-detail/story.html
I think I would - she apparently asked if she couldpark there - and to find people laughing and tweeting about it would be annoying. Does Troy Deeney have no intention of growing up? He is supposed to be rebuilding his reputation nut this can hardly help him
Hmm... mixed opinion really. I feel sorry for her that her car was clipped, and she had every right to complain to the club for both the damage and the tweets. But by going to the media first she has done the only thing she could possibly have done to escalate the situation. Worse still, she's openly admitting that the main basis of her complaint is that "highly paid individuals" were involved, which if you'll forgive the pun is a bit rich coming from a supporter of another Championship team. It's a tricky one because, while I probably would have done the same in her shoes, I doubt I would react positively to a media-first approach if I were in Watford's.
she asked a steward who let her, if it were a different steward there, they might not have let her park. That was not a proper parking space, so therefore she should have known that it might not be the best place to park.
Zola said at the Fans forums too many footballers use Twitter as if they are just talking to their mates rather than being aware its a public forum. This is clearly one of those cases although how did the lady find the comments? In all fairness they aren't rude or abusive - just childish which most footballers of Deeney and FF's age are. TBH If somebody told me 2 players were making jokes about the incident Deeney would be top of the list! Ofcourse there is a lot of resentment of footballers because of the money they earn.. Even I think when hearing somebody moaning about being tired "just get on with it - you earn a lot"
Mixed opinion here too. Yes, sorry that her car was damaged, but the Mail report seems to suggest that she had accepted fault after talking to -and no doubt being angry with - the coach driver. Quite why she then sees it as necessary to complain to the club I don't know - hoping for a 'pay-out'? As to the players - very childish behaviour & attitude, particularly from TD. Why on earth did he choose to add 'lol' at the end of his tweet? There's nothing too funny about the incident - and he has only given the Mail the chance to needlessly make reference to his past offence & jail sentence. If they hadn't tweeted, or had been more sympathetic, this very probably would not have been publicised.
If you're an insensitive fool I don't suppose you're going to worry too much about the inconvenience caused or whether you've shown yourself to have learned nothing from recent experiences. I'm not convinced the fact that they're footballers and young is much of an excuse. There are young footballers who have learned when's a good time and a good subject for mockery and when is not.
It seems as if young footballers live in a different universe to some of us. Who am I to talk about Twitter when my electronic knowledge stops at a toaster.
As I say footballers think they are just talking to mates and don't seem to note the public can and will take an interest in what they say although not sure how the lady got these quotes?
Pretty sad that over paid footballers feel it necessary to laugh publicly at someone else's misfortune - Deeney seems to have learnt very little.
I actually saw this happen and I think the whole thing is bloody stupid. Why the hell they let people park down ashton road I have no idea. There is barely 2 feet clearance either side of the coach as people park on both sides of the road. The coach then has to turn right almost through 90º to thread it through the gate into the car park. See image, the red line is the route the coach takes, the green is cars and the blue is a food van. At any other ground the coach would be guided in by stewards, however this time they failed to do so. There were also people walking in front of, beside and behind the coach, unlike other grounds where the stewards close the road to pedestrians whilst the coach parks. I feel sorry for the driver who was only a temp as Frank was ill, it was his first time with us and people were jeering at him for a mistake. However, I do agree it was childish of Deeney and Forrestieri to tweet like that, but is there any need to go to the papers about it. That smacks of her being petty and wanting something out of this. Furthermore, the stupid cow should learn to park, every other car was parked hugging the wall, where as she was a good foot and a half away from it.
Dan - you appear to slag off people at the drop of a hat - there is no need to call a person a stupid cow - or is this another case where you just posted in a hurry - a bit like Troy Deeney it seems She is a nurse which suggests she has enough about her to spend time qualifying for a worthwhile profession, she asked a steward - maybe she should not have but the steward appears to have Ok'd it - is he a stupid something too? and if you have ever lived somewhere wiht parking problems when you hafd a little baby you just might be a bit more understanding. COuld you try to be a little more tolerant of others who are clearly not up to you high standards?
No, I think she is a stupid and petty cow for going to the papers. What is the point of it? It seems to me that she wanted her time in the spotlight or she is trying to milk it for a pay out. Why not just phone the club and deal with it privately? But the stupid cow was aimed more towards the poor parking than anything. If she had parked closer to the wall or somewhere else then this would not have happened.
Does the fact they are well paid really matter in this? If they were just young lads off the streets would it make a big difference.. I do think in some cases the fact they are paid so much for probably what many might view as not doing a lot compared to the long hours most of us do isn't helpful. Almost a type of resentment and added frustration towards in effect young men who probably have had one aim/focus on their minds since they were kids. Sure footballers and other celebs have been doing/saying stupid things for decades but no-cared or heard about it years ago...
when i saw these tweets i did wonder if they would come back to bite them, but i do think she's gone way too far. As has been said, to me, she seems like someone who wants something out of this, why else would she bother going to the press? What purpose does that serve? Yes, complain to the club and expect some sort of apology, but the press? Really odd reaction. Furthermore, now that her name has become public knowledge, there are some people on twitter who have found her twitter account and are trying to get Watford fans to message her with disparaging comments....this is going to get worse before it gets better i fear..and it's all so needless! Two silly but innocent tweets taken out of proportion by an opposition fan. Daft, imho.
Your description of a woman you don't know suggests the name you go by is very appropriate. Given the provocation you often provide us with, you're fortunate some of the posters on here have better manners than to describe you in such uncomplimentary terms.
