Was on the recieving end once down in Blackpool, the famous Peanut seller/penalty match, was only about 15 at the time and we'd broken off from the rest of the lads and somehow ended up in the middle of town. News must travel fast in Blackpool cos before we knew it, we were being chased through the town centre by a mob of 20 blackpool idiots.

In vane we took a turn into Woolies to seek sanctuary, only for the manager and security to literally throw us back out into the street to the waiting angry mob. Got well and truly battered but still made the match.

I learned 3 very valuable lessons that day.

Never ever, stray away from the sanctuary of the pack.

Never ever wear your colours if you do stray and like me, if you do try to hide it by tying it round your waist then make sure you can tie a decent knot. I never and it came loose and was on full show.

Finally, NEVER run into Woolies in Blackpool if you're looking for sanctuary, the ****s just throw you to the lions.

Barnsley away was always a bit of a twat in the 80's.

You can add Boro & Chelsea to that too.

I once got into a fight with a Chelsea fan in a West London pub. It was probably my fault as I was mouthing off about Terry (they get very defensive about that git). I won BUT was barred from the pub <laugh>

    God where to start. hahaha

Had a mate cut with a double bladed stanley by a headhunter, bastards!
If anyone is wondering it was so they couldn't stitch the wound up at hospital.
Always had toe to toe fights with them up to that point.
Then a couple of years later me and a couple lads got separated from the mass in London and were getting chased by what seemed like ****ing hundreds of Chelsea fans.
I tripped and was inches away from the biggest kicking of my life when I got dragged into a pub by other supporters wearing Red and White scarves.
Was trying to say thanks while gasping and a Manc said "he's a ****ing Geordie toss him back out!"
Luckily someone else with more say told them to let me be.
I ended up drinking with them and even went back to Manchester with them on the train that night.
Always had a soft spot for Man Utd supporters since that day.

Not fighting as such but a favourite pastime among some sets of fans in the late 60`s was to file down sharp half the edge of an old penny (leaving the other half to fit nicely in a curled finger) and then flick it
at the oppo fans. Neatly lost an eye to one once and was tempted to wear goggles and a flying helmet from then on, but looked an even bigger t**t than usual so took me chances.

Had more fights than I care to remember in my youth. However the only football related one was with fellow Sunderland fans after the Charlton play off. Some oiks decided to wreck my mate's pub so when I intervened I got a glass waved in my face. Left the pub after the police arrived only to be followed by gang of 6 or so. Went down fighting knocked 2 out but lost the war. Broken nose ribs and got glassed in the knee of all places. Caught up with one of them a few years later and introduced his head to his front door.
Violence for the sake of violence is ******ed but payback feels good.

We always avoided the opposition ordinary supporters, it was always like minded dickheads like ourselves we fought.
We gave some of our own fans a slap once for starting to smash up a train we were on.
Thick twats were the same ones who would disappear if the going got tough.
We used to get teenagers latching onto us, walking too and from the match, most were no bother others were just stupid wannabes. AFter one match there were fans of the other team walking back toward the City center no one bothering them as they weren't bothering anyone.
Then a young Sunderland lad ran from behind us and blindsided a bloke walking along in front holding his little sons hand. The biggest mistake the idiot made, was running back toward us laughing and shouting his glee, at knocking someone down who wan't expecting it. My mate didn't break stride and broke his nose and someone else clipped him on the way down. He was flat out and everybody just kept walking and helped the other bloke up.

Got a halfie on the head at Man U after the game and got a chair hoyed at uz in a pub at Spurs - but my personal favorite was our bus stopping off at Leeds after the Man City game in the 73 Fa Cup. There were three of us and 3 Leeds fans (2 men and 1 woman) talking in the road when the pubs had shut - anyway my mates started arguing with the two Leeds blokes and I was trying to quieten them all down when the woman pulled a glass out of her bag and held it at my throat. Luckily some coppers had seen this all happening and chased after then arrested the Leeds yobbo's. I like to think of the final as Karma!
