The FA said on Thursday that no action will be taken against the Manchester United manager following his on-field outburst at referee Mike Dean. The Scot was furious after Dean awarded Newcastle's second goal in the Red Devils' 4-3 win on Boxing Day despite assistant Jake Collin raising an offside flag. Pardew said that said Dean will have been "slightly disappointed" he did not take action against Ferguson at the time, prompting an angry response. "I was demonstrative but I was not out of order," Ferguson said. "The press have had a field day. The only person they have not spoken to is Barack Obama because he is busy, "It is unfortunate but I am the manager of the most famous club in the world. Not Newcastle, a wee club in the north east. "I was demonstrative. I am always demonstrative. Everyone knows that. I am an emotional guy. But I was not abusive. I shouted Mike over. We walked towards each other. I was only on (the pitch) three or four yards. That has been overplayed. "The problem for me is that the profile of this club is huge. "Alan Pardew has come out and criticised me. He is the worst at haranguing referees. He shoves them and makes a joke of it. How he can criticise me is unbelievable. He forgets the help I gave him, by the way." Newcastle boss Pardew, who was fined £20,000 and served a two-match ban for pushing the fourth official in August, had said Dean should have sent Ferguson to the stands. "I think Mike Dean might feel slightly disappointed he didn't do something about it," Pardew said. "I think the pressure that was on him was tough for a referee to take. "Sometimes when you reflect on a game you think you might have acted differently. You do that as a manager and I think he might have done that as a referee. "But it's an emotional game and apparently they had a cordial discussion. I've had a few of those myself and sometimes I've ended up in the stands as a result of that cordial discussion. "I think there were a lot of things the FA could look at. But it seems they are looking at none." The Scot was enraged by Dean's decision to award Newcastle's second goal - a Jonny Evans own goal - after consulting with the linesman who initially raised an offside flag. Dean decided that Cisse, who was in an offside position when Danny Simpson struck a long-range shot, had not interfered with play. Despite Ferguson's furious rant, Dean declined to send him off and made no subsequent complaint. Ferguson said after the game: "The referee changed the linesman's mind. "He said it was an own goal. But if you see it again, and the referee can't, the guy is in an offside position, then he pulls Evans' arm. If that is not interfering what is? I think it was a bad decision." United's win, coupled with Manchester City's 1-0 defeat to Sunderland, means they are now seven points clear at the top of the Premier League.
I'm not Pardews biggest fan, but Fergy is being very disrespectful here. Basically saying he had a right to berate the referee like that because of the size of the club he's in charge of.
That's not what he is saying at all. If you read it again you will see that he says he is scrutinised more because of the size of MUFC. Pardew was just as bad as Fergie, so why no uproar towards him? As was rightly pointed out, Pardew pushed a lino and laughed it off and got half the abuse for it that Ferguson is getting.
Pardew was dismissed and banned. He admitted that he'd made a mistake, apologised to the officials on the day, publicly apologised after the game and called his own behaviour "ridiculous". He accepted that he was completely at fault, whereas Ferguson's done nothing of the sort, essentially saying, "Don't you know who I am?", instead.
They are both complete bellends!!! Someone needs to smack Ferguson in the mouth to bring him back down to earth. Someone just needs to smack pardew.
I think SAF is very clever. They have their worst defensive record since the 2001/02 season, yes they are top of the league, but not even the most blinkered Man U fan can say they are playing great football, yes attack is fine but defence... usually its 19 games and 10 ish goals conceded this year its 19 games and 28 conceded in the league. and they went 1-2 down with that goal, ws he right to have a go at the ref, no of course not, but did the ref report it, no, why i have no idea, but he didnt so if the refs dont report him for this sort of stuff he will keep doing it and keep geting away with it, and lets be honest the fines are crap. OK to me and you its about 1-5 years wages but for the players and managers its like us getting a £80 fine for dropping litter (actually its probably not even that bad in comparison). All he is doing is deflecting the media away from his leaky defence, and what is wrong with the team. and saying look at me/report on me, not them.
Even though I am very much a Brit. I would say Real Madrid are a more Famous club than Man. U. So biggest club in thr world. I think NOT.
Good post Steve, Isn't that part of his brilliance as a manager though, to deflect attention away from his teams flaws? Nobody is talking about the fact the Toon scored 3 and could have had 5 or 6, they are talking about this, he's protected his players from scrutiny, again, thus removing the pressure from them. Love him or hate him (I actually think the man is brilliant), he is the ****ing master of his trade, in my eyes the best ever. We can all sit here and call him a ****, but I bet every one of us would love to sit and have a drink with the fella and just let him talk!
Unquestionably in my opinion mate. Not just what he's done, but the size of the club and the sustained period of time.
This. Whatever you may think about him, he is a global legend. There has never ever been a manager that has managed the same club, at the highest level, winning as many trophies and maintaining the very highest standards for so long - 25 years. He has built 4 or 5 teams and won trophies or honours with all of them, including a spell at Aberdeen where he won a European trophy against all the odds. He is without a shadow of a doubt the greatest manager in the game ever imo, although I concede he can be a right arsehole at times. What global successful person isn't sometimes? There will never be another SAF. He is also a man that despite fame, wealth and power has remained true to his humble background and is a staunch supporter of the Labour Party, aimed at fairness for all. I admire the bloke immensely and would love to share a glass of rouge with him.
got no time for either of em, fergie must be the rudest and arrogant man on the planet and they are both bullies.
Fair to say as well that his little hissy fits are bourne out of a fierce will to win, and admirable trait in any person that would see you lose a wee bit of composure and say summat you maybe regret a few hours later. The man is a living legend.
Wouldn't be too bothered about what our manager does or doesn't do if I'd won as much as Utd have over the years. Storm in a tea cup for me.
Those who make it to the top generally are ****s. It takes a certain type of person to make it there. The man is a managerial legend and the best ever. I would sit with him, buy the wine personally and let him talk all day about the game. I would learn so much. That said, if he ever attacks my club again I will look for him, I will find him AND I WILL KILL HIM!!!! No seriously, he is just deflecting criticism. He is wrong in what he says though. He is no better than anyone other manager and does not deserve the increasingly apparent favourable decision he and his club get.
His record speaks for itself, but that doesn't excuse the fact that he can be a real bellend at times as he was with this statement regarding the Skunks..
Ferguson is simply a legend of the game, listen to what other managers say about him and that tells you everything. Yes he can be a **** when he has to be but he's still the most successful manager in the world right now and i doubt his record will ever be beaten. Pardew???? what the **** has he ever done?
