Its time it got approved by the FA IMO

Never really paid attention to it before but after the notices on the seats at the city game I thought I would have a look and found out about it online and I see Villa and City have backed it.

Just seen pictures of hoffenheims safe standing section and it seems to be great, if u want to stand then you can and safely and if you want to sit you still have a seat so everyone is a winner.

Get it in asap I say n get the north and south stands both safe standing

Speak for yourself mate, some of us can still remember having our chests crushed on concrete barriers on the old roker end, somebody could easily have been trampled to death in those days.
I'm curious to know this - if you went to the Empire and paid for a seat then some arsehole stood up in front of you, what would be your response?
I completely understand that the atmosphere is totally different nowadays but standing up isn't going to change that.

Safe standing nowadays is completely different to the old days, each person has there own little spot and there is no reason at all to worry about it.

I agree about people standing infront of you but I only said they should do it for 2 stands not all, for the people who want to sit down all the time then they have the choice of the other stands.

If I was on my laptop I would upload a picture of a safe standing stand on a match day, if someone could do it then great.

I cant see why it wont be safe, the stadium capacity will not change as its still 1 "seat" per person, so there will be no overcrowding just people standing in their own seatable position, not like the terraces of old where you had 1 metal bar then 5-6 steps behind it to another metal bar where they could cram you in like cattle.

I really cant see a problem with it tbh.

The thing with standing was that it made football cheap. Mainly because you can increase your capacity.

Now if you can't increase your capacity, you have to pay to make it standing I can't see how it can be cheaper to stand.

I'm a sitting kinda guy theses days . However I used to enjoy standing.

I'd happily see standing return but it MUST make football cheaper and accessible to the working classes.

Ok Poolie, point taken, I have no problems at all after seeing those pics. Still can't understand why you would want to stand when there are seats available, but I am all for it if it means cheaper tickets , I'll still keep my seat though, if that's ok with you.

But that would mean cramming people in to make it cheaper then health and safety comes into it .???? <bubbly>

First of all, it wouldn't be any cheaper as the same space is taken up...Infact, looking at those pictures it might end up reducing the capacity available. Secondly, with the bowl design of our stadium, it would still cause viewing difficulties to those sitting to the left and right of those standing areas. If these could be addressed I would have no problem with a standing section, although I would imagine that an area behind one of the goals would be sufficient to meet the needs of those wanting to stand all game..

Football has become far too expensive, hence people watch it over the Internet, in the pub Etc.

Now bring back standing and make it cheap then it get's my vote. Standing at a football match never killed anyone. Perhaps the policing and the way the football fan was treated was to blame.

I still find the policing of football to be far too harsh.
