Times are tough, no doubt. The Liverpool glory days grow more distant with every passing second, but the thought of returning among the cream of the crop in Europe and the world drives us on. After a loss to Stoke in the Brittania, on a cold wet Wednesday, things are looking a tad glum. (Don't beat yourself up about it, I doubt even Messi could score there)

Everyone needs a place in troubled times where they can escape to, usually for me it's the bog but Gerrez and Zingy usually have it occupied. So I decided to make our very own sanctuary, a place where not even the bitterist blues can reach! Whether it's a Dalgish winner at Wembley, a piece of Barnsey magic or a OOOHHHH YOU BEAUTY Gerrard screamer, we all have that special memory that made us so happy that we could ****.

Deep breathes lad, it's all gonna be alright, don't panic, Poulson and Konchesky are long gone.

Cast yourself back to May 2005, to a certain special Champions League final.

Or perhaps all the way back to 1978, for another European Cup final against Bruges.

    Liverpool v Bruges - Wembley

Now, for me personally, you can always find solace in a good, old fashioned football song.

None better than a passionate You'll Never Walk Alone. The atmosphere at this certain much is one of the most stunning I've ever seen.

We each have our own special memories, which will stick with us throughout history 'till we kick the bucket. In some special way we're drawn to Liverpool FC, whether it be due to a Family tradition, a special memory or drilled in to you from a early age, we all love the club and we all support the club through thick and thin, it's never dull supporting Liverpool but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Keep the faith lads, we've been through a lot worse!

Feel free to add your own memories lads before this thread descends in to the bottom pages.

    <cheers>

  2. Loving that <laugh>

My number one memory is the third scored by Gerrard against Olympiakos to put us 3-1 up with seconds to spare. That was when I started to believe! Going 1-0 down to a Rivaldo freekick and Gerrard's comments the day before made it all the more sweeter <ok>

That was an amazing match, the way it was won made it all the more sweeter, there were plenty of amazing moments in that campaign. The Juventus game at home was also a cracker, the Luis Garcia screamer and the Clyde Tilsley shouting "What a goal. What a night". Stunning.

  4. What about the Sami Hyypia screamer? Left foot volley...POW! He's one of the players I (and the team) miss most.

The atmosphere for the Chelsea games were great but the first leg won't be remembered foundly by me for personal reasons unfortunately!

Hyypia always came up with goals when we needed them, that bullet header against Arsenal in the 4-2 game in 08 was a peach too. Always remember that game for Walcott demolishing our whole team with one run, and the Torres goal in the top right, lavvly.

That last video is absolutely fantastic. That 2005 team was by no means the most talented Liverpool squad I've seen in my life. But it's the team that I really grew up watching and absolutely loved. Players like Riise, Finnan, Hyypia, Dudek, Baros. Heck, even Biscan and Traore will always be legends in my eyes because of that season.

The only bad thing about that video is that it's really made me want to see Rafa back where he belongs, and I know that's never going to happen.

  9. Steve Finnan. Played at every recognised level in the English leagues, was Mr Consistent and the best 'wrong foot' crosser I've seen yet never gets picked in the Liverpool prem XI sides. #legend

I remember I used to think a pre match poo was a lucky charm, then the bad results kept coming and we couldn't even blame Bluff anymore. Is there a thread for this?

Why? Couldn't you get to the bog in time?

My personal number 1 LFC memory is the European Cup second leg Vs St Etienne at Anfield (obviously). I went to the match religiously in those days, and I've never, before or since, known an atmosphere quite like that. I was at Wembley when we beat Bruges, but didn't get to Istanbul.

Remember going to Watford in a snow storm, Peter Beardsley coming down to warm up about 10 mins into the second half. Some lad shouts "Hey Peter" to which he looks up "...why you so fooking ugly" The whole stand erupts in laughter and Beardsley retreated back to the dugout!! We won 4-0 and digger was outstanding

for me its the Olympiakos game,

knew after that game we was on a role and had the momentum, although the final i was so depressed at half time, and started to believe number 5 was on its way home FOR GOOD!!when we got it back to 3-3, that's the sign of a class team, not some team that can win titles by bullying refs and fa into dodgy decisions.
