Bale is on a 4 year contract that expires in June 2016, not a 6 year deal as previously stated. If you believe google Bale is now on £75K a week (£3.9m a year), if I were Levy I would be offering him a new 5 year deal of 100K a week in the summer.

Interestingly it would seem AVB has revealed Bale does not have a release clause...a very unusual and significant omission in a contract, (unless you're Modrics agent!)

Bale will not go anywhere in January. If we get CL, he will not go anywhere in the summer either. Its as simple as that.

It is often forgotten that even superstar footballers are mostly just normal people. They have families, wives & children etc. Their wishes can many times play a big part in any decision regarding their future. I am obviously not aware of the wishes of Bale's partner, but you can bet they will play a large part in whether he stays or goes - and when.

That's why I think he'll end up playing for Utd, personally.

Firstly, no way would Levy sell to them. Secondly, they can't afford him. Their American masters may have flogged a few shares recently, but I don't foresee them handing over £50-60 mil of it for Fergie to buy one player.

Levy is obviously financially astute, but his insistence to hold out for Modric when £40m was on the table - eventually cost him £10m. So will he hold out again for silly money if a big offer comes in again ?

Nice ideal, but don't underestimate the role of agents who only earn big bucks when their clients move, Bales representatives won't make much out of securing the player a £10k a week payrise, but securing a £40m move to Spain/Italy/Manchester/Chelsea will load the coffers.

Was it Alan Curbishley who said he;d seen countless players kiss the badge of one club only to stick in a transfer request a week later ?

I don't think Bale will go anywhere in Jan but one of the chequebook bullies may still test the size of Levy's cahunas....

I suppose that if you're weak or stupid enough to allow yourself to be bullied, or manipulated by those parasites, anything is possible. However, I would hope that Bale is brighter than that.

Sorry to break it to you, but footballers employ their agents to do just the type of bidding that Grizzly is talking about.

They may be parasites but they run the game, have done for years, and in my opinion the Bosman ruling has created the chaos that exists, Tottenham are forced to offer him a lengthy contract to force someone to pay fortunes if they want to buy him, previously Tottenham may have let his contract run down and then would review once it expires safe in the knowledge they still own the player and if they couldn't reach agreement then Tottenham would still get market value for him.
I've seen Arsenal offer ludicous contracts to average players crippling the wage bill because Wenger thought that the likes of Denilson, Vela, Bendtner and others MAY become good players, clearly he got all them wrong but I can see why he thought he had to do it....

I think the key word here, just to break the news to you, is "employ" clearly implying that the agent works for the player and therefore should do his bidding. If Bale has instructed his agent to solicit the best offers he can get - which incidentally, I very much doubt, then that's fair enough. If he has not, then it leads back to my original point.

It's a different argument but agents only earn millions through the movement of players so they will never advise their clients to stay put - basically agents are clever manipulative scum and footballers are generally lacking in intelligence, only one winner.

Have you ever been advised by a mortgage broker to stay with your current lender ?
Unlikely, because he earns **** all from that...

As I say, this all goes back to my original point. If you are disposed to being manipulated by these charlatans, then that is what will happen. We can only hope that our Gareth is brighter than that.

No news is good news and this is certainly no news.

I don't see the point in keeping this open but if a Spurs fan really wants to depress themselves by talking about Bale potentially leaving they can open a new thread.
