Quinn had already proved himself in the Championship and the Premier League, McGoldrick proved himself not good enough for the Championship, so dropped down a level where he has been successful.

We've already got one striker who's prolific in League One, but not good enough for the Championship, we're not about to go buying another.

But Quinn was only in League One because Sheffield United got relegated. He'd already played with them in the Premier League and the Championship (in fact he'd captained them on a few occasions), so it's a bit of a bad example.

As for McGoldrick, he looks alright at Coventry, but I don't think he's cut out for a higher level. It's like Leon Clarke at Charlton; he isn't going to get into their squad, despite grabbing 11 in 15 for Scunthorpe on loan. And you certainly wouldn't have him at City.

As for taking a punt, I'd see how much Crewe want for Max Clayton. Or, if you want a target man, Mathias Pogba.

All of the players that might have been available from the PL seem to be getting games now. I'm not sure how happy Billy Sharp is with the SOD situation at Forest but I'd like us to make a bid on a perm if he's recalled. The Forest supporters seem pretty nervous about losing him.

    What are we lacking?

Answer: Someone who is able to time his runs into the box to get on the end of Elmo and BradyBoy's superb crosses.

The best at this in this division is Glen Murray. I don't think we would be willing to pay what Palace would want but it is THAT kind of player we need.

However, if we were to sign someone like that it would be to REPLACE Jay Simpson. If you want to play him alongside Simpson, who will drop out? Forget abandoning 352 because that aint going to happen unless we go back to 4231, so who will drop out?

IMO Simpson does alot of good work outside the box, holding the ball up, bringing players into play, linking well with midfield, but he doesn't have that killer instint to get on the end of things. Most of his goals aren't taps. If we bring in a forward we may have sacrifice Simpsons skills outside the box.

Other then the names mentioned I can't think of anyone else. They are usuallyproven NPC players at Premier League clubs who aren't getting games, but there doesn't seem to be many.

McGoldrick has always been good at League 1 level, when it comes to the Championship, however, he can't hack it!

    Utter nonsense ^^^^ this.!! FACT.

McGoldrick will be needed by Forest by the looks of it and we need better than him. Just saying like.<ok>

Ive posted this a few times. But if we must shop at the lower levels then we should take a punt on Port Vales Tom Pope. imo.

i have a funny feeling we won't be getting anybody. At least not yet anyway. Maybe if our form dips in the next month we might make a last day deal ?

I believe Steve Bruce has already got a couple of incomings lined up to sort out the goal scoring problem only why should he make it public just yet incase some other club try to step in..

I think this because I trust in SB and the Allams ..

I expect us to sign a proven goal scorer very quickly after the 1st January.
We lost out on the play offs last season because we didn't sign a striker, the same situation won't happen this season.
