    I see there are calls (in other places) for a change in Manager...... two defeats in a row and we are in crisis??????

    Come on!!!! grow some balls

    Chris is STILL building and avoiding relegation is his only target this season.

    We need to stay behind the Good Doctor.

    <cheers>

    Come on, AHLL! We don't have these idiots on Not606. They're not worth engaging with, wherever they are.

    Totally agree with this.Some people have no patience and always turn on the Manager.Chris Powell,for me,is the right man for us.In the close Season we had a number of deals lined up which included Mark Gower,Keith Andrews,Baldock and when the transfers were pulled he was left with a very small budget.Was that his fault?The players want to play for him and that will do for me.Let us see what budget he has in January and who he brings in.

    Let's be clear - no-one with half a brain cell is seriously suggesting we get rid of Chris Powell. As FHB says, don't bother getting into arguments with those halfwits who are.

    Chris Powell is the best thing to have happened to this club for a very long time. We must never lose sight of that.

    The man didnt exactly inherit a fortune to spend on players, but we're holding our own. Some people need a bit of perspective, and to remember where we were two years ago when CP came in. He's on a learning curve and will only get better. Does anyon seriusly want to see him coming to the Valley as manager of promotion chasing Leicester or Wolves because we let him go? The mind boggles.

    A lot of the shouts come from fans who don't attend games. We are achieving what I expected, low to mid table, nights of delight and days of disappointment. CP isn't the finished article by far, nor is his job anywhere near complete - but I'd honestly rather have no one over him. You just have to go back a couple of years to see the difference that he and this board have made; constantly moving up the league ladder, better quality signings, bigger crowds etc.

    You can't argue against him being a good manager. 101 points in League one was no fluke whatever spin you put on it. And after a bad run of 3 defeats earlier in the season he then admitted he, as well as the players had to quickly adapt to the league and took us on an 8 game unbeaten run. Think back to Typicals thread of not knowing what to expect this season and he generally hit the nail on the head. We will have our achievements, but unfortunately for some that will never be enough as they set unrealistic expectations from the comfort of their couch.

    Surprised this thread didn't boom after today... not that I think we should sack powell, people on here are right we need to stick with him even if we are relegated he will help this club reach the height it once did.

    I would say though Curbs to be given a job like Lennie Lawerence was with Dougie Freedman and just not be incharge or real influence just a bit of advice here and there, Curbs will get himself back in the game so if he wants to manage again he will be a better candidate and I think Chris could learn a lot from a former boss of his.

    I don't think many of us would welcome someone who had been successful and popular doing our job previously being brought in to look over our shoulder. It is just human nature.

    And the arrangement you suggest is demeaning to both parties. It shows the board don't trust Powell to do the job alone, while Curbs would chafe at having "no real influence". Contrary to what you suggest I think it might only work if Curbs had finally decided to retire from management and was available as a "consultant" like Keith Peacock. Which reminds me, it would be demeaning to Peacock as well, bringing in Curbs to do the "father figure" job Peacock is now supposed to be doing.

    I'd be gutted if Powell did leave, but he really really needs to sort it out. I don't care about us being 18th in the League, this season is one for consolidation. What I care about is spending hundreds of pounds a year on my season ticket, another few hundred on programmes and merchandise, thousands on going to away games, and then having to sit through the **** football we've been watching this season.

    I'm sick to death of watching Seaborne pass the ball to the corner flag, Fuller dribbling the ball into five defenders then not bothering to get the ball back, the constant hoofball to Hulse who can't header, watching two target-men play alongside each other, watching Salim Kerkar fall over his own feet, Dale Stephens having no knowledge of the players behind him. The football this season has been the worst I've seen in god knows how many years. I even include Parky's third year in charge in that. There is absolutely nothing to get excited about in the first 80 minutes of every game we play nowadays.
