His footwork was so slow for the 1st goal and he clearly should have done better with the 2nd, I cant believe anyone seriously thinks there was nothing he could have done with the 2nd, how about pushing it anywhere else instead of in his own goal?

He has a fair few howlers no doubt about that but IMHO can't be held responsible for those goals today. The pitch surface was slippery and the ball just skidded off it, cesar wouldn't have saved it either.

The first is a great strike on a slick pitch. It would have been a brilliant save to get there in time. For the second, he's being obstructed by a 14 stone lump whose sole aim is to back into him and stop him getting the ball.

I think hed have saved both, Green was so deep in his net and so slow moving, his footwork is terrible meaning hes a yard short of where he should be.

Maradona handballed the ball into the goal so I assume you think Shilton was blame free for letting a 5ft 1" player get to the ball ahead of him?

Maradona cheated but I assume you blame Shilton for not being stronger?!

Of course, he was outjumped by a player a foot shorter who didnt even extend his hand.

Both were fouls but both were equally the goalies fault, Green showed no desire at all and basically gave up which for me sums up his time here.

If I offered you 100k to keep the ball out against a player a foot shorter than you in similar circumstances, are you telling me you couldnt have done a better job than he did?

Maradona is 5' 5". Shilton prepared for an attempt at a header from a man of 5' 5". If he had just gone to head it the Shilton would have dealt with it so, no, I don't blame Shilton in that situation.

Looked even worse on MOTD. He even had the nerve to smile/laugh about it afterwards.

I think its even less of a foul after viewing it again, it looks more and more Greens fault and the pundits thought the same.

Green steps back into the net and the other player holds his ground, yes its given nearly all the time but its clearly the goalies fault and is the type of goal that should be allowed.

Pretty sickening to witness that. Having seen the goal in greater clarity, I'm with those who think that Green blundered; he moved back into the goal and was very weak in standing his ground. But as Stamford has pointed out the reaction of Green makes it all the worse.

In the 5 meter box you can't touch goalkeeper at all. Every contact with goalkeeper in that area is automatically a foul.

I think the bottom line here is that Cesar would not have conceded that goal, there's no point in arguing it was a foul, the ref gave the goal and Green's failure to impose himself was the reason, Cesar would have punched it away...
