Promosing Nile Ranger performance - I still have faith in him

  1. I think that Nile Rangers performance yesterday wasn't given enough credit.

He looked deadly, and forced another great save out of Foster and created 2 golden opportunities for our team.

One was the one where Shola tried to chip the goal keeper and it was cleared off the line and another was when Joey Barton almost scored.

Ranger made immediate impact and seems to create chances for others rather than just go for goal himself.

I personally still have alot of faith in this kid, he did more in those 20 minutes than Shola has done for the last 3 games, apart from score a penalty ofcourse.

He needs to go out on loan, because once he finds his head infront of goal, he'll score bolt loads of goals.

He can petrify any defense in this league, but the only thing he lacks is that finishing touch. What i like about him is how he creates chances for others aswell. Despite the fact that there are claims that he's a childish idiot, he does try hard and works his pants off every game, and does alot for the team.

I reckon we should send him out to Brighton or Huddersfield.

Brighton because they're a team on the rise, and Huddersfield because i respect their manager and i reckon he could do a good job helping Nile shape himself up.

He needs to start ahead of Shola imo.

I say let him start the last two games of the season in place of Shola and see how he does.

Loan next season IF we buy a striker or two. If not we need him here.

Would like to see him get another start in the last couple of games, don't think he should be judged on just his performance when he started against Villa. He looked deadly against Brum, as you said.

With us hopefully bringing in top quality strikers in the summer, a loan deal would probably suit him best next season.

I thought both of those chances involved him going alone and shooting then somebody else getting a rebound.

I definitely agree though and he needs a chance to start again, he's a dangerous player for us up front and produces exciting moments but its just that his lack of end product is starting to make these exciting moments more like 'GO ON - oh its just ranger, he'll most likely fluff it at the end of this run' moments.

  6. Well actually he tried a shot, it was a decent striker but Foster saved it, and Shola tried to chip in the rebound, and the second one Nile made a great pass across the box which found it's way to Joey Barton who smashed it and it was clear off the line agani.

Cracking strike, I thought it was going in. Great save though.
I'm just so desperate for him to score it's just building and building. Probably going to end up being a bit anti-climatic though.

Oh, and the phantom childish taggers are back <doh>

Tell that to Dunne and Collins. His inadequecy's at this level were shown against two good experienced CB's who were fresh rather than having already played 60mins.

I defenitaley agree that he should go on loan to a good lower league team, a full season playing first team football should do him a world of good and he'd hopefully come back a better player.

Think he should get a start against West Brom at home where we should be on the front foot, but definately not against Chelsea, the game against Villa away that he started and the game where he came on early as a sub for Shola against Fulham away he was frustratingly poor, but I think his performances off the bench this season definately warrant him getting a start at SJP and can only aid his progress.

He's a striker and is still yet to score despite making 20+ appearances this season, yes, most have come from the bench but the fact remains he hasn't scored a single goal. Send him on loan, see how he gets on but I really don't rate him.

If he starts against Chelsea he'll struggle like hell.

He was great in the Carling Cup match versus them but this is a different matter with Chelsea looking to secure 2nd place and the team will be much stronger and experienced.

Sub appearance vs Chelsea and a starting position vs West Brom.

    Boom. This ^

If West Brom defend like they did against Wolves, Ranger could easily grab a goal or 7.
