Just thought I'd throw a stone in the pool. Anyone else think Frank Lampard would be up for a challenge to keep Saints up? Not usually keen on 'old soldiers' for Saints, but he is a bit special. Got to be better than shuffling about in a team in Japan, China or USA.

Would I take him? Most likely.

Will we go for him? No.

Would Frank be interested? Probably not.

    Is it realistic? No.

The most obvious fit for him would be QPR.

A midfielder guaranteed to score 10+ goals every season. Any club would love to have that!

No chance, and he won't be going to QPR either. He'll have much better offers.

Indeed, one of those better offers will surely be from them. If he wants a new challenge (or more money) from PSG or America or somewhere, they won't be able to stop him though.

Think he's def leaving. His interview after scoring on Saturday was very carefully worded. He seemed to be accepting he couldn't break nay more Chelsea scoring records.

I would love it to happen but even though I don't think he's the kind of guy who wants that big final payday abroad, I suspect that it's about as likely as me curling out a solid gold Christmas jobbie. With Uncle 'Arry based in West London, that's the only relegation battle he'll be likely to join.

He won't come to us because we don't get pens and Ricky will take it anyway

Frank has always been (IMO) an honest player and out of the England old-boys I thought he was the one who ALWAYS put in 100%.
Yes he would do a good job for us but would the other players resent him, I think it would put some noses out of place.

Agreed, Uncle 'Arry would pay him more in wages than we could sensibly justify.

Would be a great signing but not one I could see us pulling off or even interested in.

Linking up with PSG maybe an option for him or how about Man Utd? They need a stop gap in between Scholes and giggs retiring.

    Quality player.

It would be an amzong signing. He is the sort of player that cork and schnerderlain would do well to learn from. We could never offer him attractive enough wages though.

I heard a rumour that utd were interested. Although I think he will stay at chelsea. He's been rumoured to leave several times and it has never happened, same again this time.

Personally I would not really want him, nor do we have a hope in hell of getting him. Think he's a fantastic player and it would be a crime for Chelsea to let him and Terry go... But he won't be earning less than £150k a week wherever he goes and not prepared to see us spend that until we're in our 2nd or 3rd Champions League season, in around 2016. ;)

    1) We wouldn't get close to paying his wages.
    2) Great though he is, his best days are behind him. And I don't think we're interested in players like that.
