I can't believe Bosingwa is on 65k a week. I agree with most of the points already raised though so need for further input.
If any of our transfer targets are real options, you have to wonder how much the likes of Lampard, Cole, Anelka etc would be offered. They're not gonna come here for peanuts; Cole is supposedly on 90k a week for Pete's sake! TBH I can't see us signing anyone of sufficient quality to score the goals/keep them out to maintain our position in the PL. Loan players, or even short term contracts, aren't gonna be up for the fight IMO. We're in an awkward position as to attract players, we're gonna have to offer the cash - so another round of mercenaries enters the fray.
Sorry but the blame lies fairly and Squarely with the players, It is their job to entertain the fans, and the fans want to be entertained (they do afterall pay the wages of these players and turn up to be entertained), the players not the previous manager, coaching staff owner, directors are the ones that got this great club in the mess (by not performing now is the time to put up or get out) Comeon Urs.
I'm bothered by the fact that TF has overseen all these transfers and released the cash to enable them to happen. I had believed he was a good business man and that QPR was in safe hands. If someone offered Air Asia a second hand plane on its last legs at an inflated price, what would he do? Why has he sanctioned the equivalent at QPR?? As ever, there is probably so much more that we don't know that might make more sense of what we do. For example, TF might have been trying to demonstrate / prove / show off to Amit that he could make it work without significant help from the Mittal axis. Just an idea - no rumour / source / facts to back it up.
Footballers get paid a lot of money as they are the superstars of the new world religion: Football. Of course you will be shocked ... This is a excellent PR Harold a solid and firm kick in the cnut to push us towards the big matches. Spurs, Palyers, Money, Harold, Courts, Dogs , Accounts ... it's all confusing I can't write any more.
Dave, having expunged yourself following the Hughes debacle and Redknapp going public on the travesty that was Spunky's squad, I have to say there are signs of you getting back to you entertaining self. Keep it up, you're hugely enjoyable and all the more likeable for it.
Only just seen this.......never let fact get in the way of a good story eh? I have been one of the more critical of Bosingwa and Granero, who I always doubted when most were raving about him. If you're going to name people and get personal, at least get your facts right!!
Posted the following on another thread....thought it was worth saying again. I am getting a little tired of our club being laughed at though. We never seem to get it right. Again on Sunday Supplement, the club and Fernandes in particular was ripped apart. It's hard to argue with most of what was being said too. Tony has been so naive that it beggars belief imo. Sure, he was terribly taken advantage of by Hughes and his contacts, but surely TF, with all his business experience should have been more aware of what was going on? Beard must take some responsibility too. Not sure how pleased Tony will be with Harry for pointing out his short-comings, but I hope and pray that Tony has learned his lesson!! I think Harry will suss out all the mercenaries and will get the remaining players and any new additions playing for the shirt....could be too little too late though and we could be paying for this debacle for years to come!
Bit like King Lear is it not? Tony has taken his eye off the ball and released funds without due care for the possible consequences. It is his responsibility as owner to ascertain the value of the purchases and the monthly expenditure thereafter. It's no excuse to say it was Hughes or Beards fault, he hired them to do his bidding. It's as clear as day that this haemorrhage can only go on for a short time, either he himself or his backers will get tired of pumping air into a punctured balloon. The club is in a very exposed and vulnerable state at the moment and the next couple of months may have far reaching consequences for it's very survival.
There are a lot of you out there frothing at the mouth about the money that has been spent and the attitude of the players its been spent on. Lot of flak flying around and I noted particularly that Imaz blames Fernandes and even the Mittals. Fair enough. Now get real. Most of you were more than eager to spend the money and to look only at the bigger and better names out there. Take your fair share of the blame therefore. Some of us have said from day one of the project that we are a small club with limited capacity to grow and that the model for us is the slow steady improvement of the squad asnd stadium over several years. There is plenty of talent in the lower leagues and there was a time when we had a proper scouting network that used to find these guys. The Fernandes dream project seems to be a modified version of the Goons 4 year plan which, if you remember was to be playing in the Champions League within that time frame. Tony has exactly the same unrealistic ambition except the time scale is a bit longer. Before we even begin to challenge for the Top 4 we have to overcome a whole host of clubs with 40-50,000 seat stadia they regularly fill such as Newcastle, Sunderland, Villa and Everton. none of them have a hope of making a realistic push on to that promised land. We have to leapfrog over all of them on a capacity of 18000. If we want to buy cast offs from the Milan clubs, Real Madrid and Barleclona or Chelsea and United, we have to expect to be prepared to match and even better their ludicrous wage levels. Where would you prefer to be? Languishing in the reserves at a CL club, making the odd appearance in the CL or playing for a team you have not heard of playing somewhere in West London. Of course it is the money that persuades them to come. Either that point passed most of you by or you thought they were good investments. There are other very decent clubs in Spain apart form the Galacticos and other clubs seem to have bought wisely from them. Mercenaries is a term most of us use, probably unfairly. They have a short career and families to feed. It is natural they should want to get as much as they can while they can. The value of an investment is in the benefits you get, ranging from success on the pitch or raising your profile to making a tidy profit when you come to sell. on. None of those apply to the purchases we made. So before you turn on all the players and the owners, have a good look at yourselves and admit you got it all wrong.
Agree entirely. But surely it's not unreasonable for us fans who spend a fortune to watch these players to expect them to put 100% effort in for their sky high wages? Bosingwa and Granero have been taking the piss!
You are right on both counts. We have been disappointed and are justifiably angry. But to avoid a reoccurrence of the cancer requires a sea change in the attitude of owners and fans alike and a lessening of grandiose expectations.
