Quietly optimistic, but as a Liverpool fan I know better than to get my hopes up. It's good to see other players chipping in with goals, that will play a huge factor in the teams confidence, I went for 1-1 on the prediction thread with Gerrard to score, and I'll stick with that. I'd really like to see Henderson in for this one, I really think we need a player in the middle with a big work ethic (Alongside Lucas), and the guy is decent on the ball too, he offers a lot more than Allen does at the moment.
Fatigue. He has played double the amount of games as he had at this stage last season. He has also traveled around Europe. It is a big difference. Mentally and physically.
Looking forward to this one. The stats would suggest a draw. Didnt know they had only conceded 3 at home all season, very good record....Hoping that we can turn them over, but it is completely impossible to predict a Liverpool result...lol
Someone above says quietly optomistic, Im feelin this way too, its good for us Shawcrosses wrestling got highlighted last week also,LFC must really try to highlight that to the ref in the match Hard to say what the 11 will be, Ive heard Sterling starts, suspect Allen may come back in also, does Coates come in?? who knows, maybe agame for Hendo??
He probably means fesh injuries. There is no way Kelly is fit to play. We have to break our Stoke duck.
Yeah your right, heard now that Borini not available until January, Assaidi , dont know, surprised if hes involved even if he is fit
I'm not sure what is up with Assaidi. I can see him leaving in the summer. Maybe they are just hoping for a profit.
Why are people being negative and focusing on the fact they've only conceded 3 goals in the league at home this season?? Why not mention they have the joint 2nd worst attack in the league at home this season Think positive
It's going to be a tough match, but if we can beat Stoke on a wet Wednsday in December, things must surely be looking up for us.
Messi is sitting on the beach on winter break, having just broken the scoring record of goals in a year, yet still living with regret that he will never know what it is like playing at stoke on a cold, wet, wintery night.
I'll buck the trend as I don't usually predict anything results wise.. I don't think it will be a bore draw because having beaten Fulham, from what I saw on MOTD with ease. It means a confident Liverpool coming to the Brit.. And i HOPE we don't just sit back and we have a go at Liverpool. IF we do it should/could turn out to be a cracking match. A WIN but it could go either way... looking forward to the game as night games at Stoke are never dull affairs. Merry Xmas to all the Pool fans too! ENJOY the game, I've heard you sold out as have Stoke City.
We hardly ever beat Stoke, usually a draw and we have drawn the most Boxing Day games in the Premier League.
Can't see Liverpool breaking us down in defence at the Britannia Stadium as that is where you are currently lacking and Stoke are not freely scoring at the moment so it could be another boring 0-0 draw. Either that or a lucky goal from a set piece or error that gives either side a slender 1-0 victory. Stoke are unbeaten at home since February this year when Huth got sent off against Sunderland in a snow storm so if Liverpool intend to win they are going have to be on top of their game in order to do this. Brendan Rodgers always takes a defensive stance when he comes to the Britt as a point here now for most teams is deemed as a decent result these days and not points dropped as it used to be! Last year's boxing day game against Aston Villa was the worst 0-0 draw i have seen in years so hopefully you will give us a better game this year!! All the best all the same and Merry Christmas to each and all and for all those Liverpool fans coming to the Britt have a safe journey!
Assaidi's had a knee injury from what I know and is still struggling with it. Almost certain BR sees him as a better bench warmer than Cole and would have him there if possible! Liverpool win, 2-1. Stoke will be given a penalty but we'll have a stonewall one denied, no doubt. I hope we play Hendo and not Allen, he's too lightweight for this fixture....and most others.
Thank goodness it's the late kick off... Don't want football to ruin Boxing Day dinner! EDIT: We could well win - Stoke will be under much more pressure to score at home, and we're in better shape now than before. Hopefully we take confidence from the Fulham game (although they were dreadful).
