which teams have over-under achieved this season?

surely the over achievers (good for them) are stoke, F.A cup final, sitting in 8th, and will probably finish there.

then we have the mags and w. brom, who we are in the middle off, both have done ok on their return to the p/l, and are in no danger.

then under achievers, surely the prize for being prize plums of the year must go to villa.
sitting in 14th with arsenal and liverpool to play, that's as high as they will get.
especially seeing as big daz left to further his career, and they seem to have half the england team.

and a special mention to west ham, won't say they have under achieved as it's about time they go down, just hope we help to do it, especially if it saves MMc.

and what about our season, although it seems bad, if we finish 10/11th, think most would have taken that at the start..

I would put Blackpool in the over achievers. Even if they go down, with that team and what they have spent. I honestly thought they would be down by christmas.

    I'll second that.

For us, 8-10 was the target, and we may well achieve it, when all's said and done it steady progress.

Facts are though, we blew it this year, and that means even though we'll have achieved our aims, maybe, the season will have been a let down.

If we can finish 8th I will class that as a real success. There is No way we could have matched Liverpool's form this year, so I reckon 7th is the best we could have hoped for. So effectively our nightmare run may have only blew us 1 place?

Well, i can see your point on Liverpool, BUT we are only 9 points behind them.

Unquestionably we'd have expected 3 wins from the bad run, bearing in mind we lead Stoke with minutes left, and were all over Spurs.

Throw in a ridiculous giveaway at Wolves and a capitulation against Fulham, topped with 2 derby no-shows, and we genuinely had a chance to beat Liverpool, even if it would have been primarily down to their failures early doors.

We've had some great moments in the season, and signings like Sessegnon, and the development of Colback and Bardsley are massive positives.

It's a really hard season to rate.

Fair point's, think the fulham and Bolton game's even themselves out though. I expected us to beat fulham, didn't expect anything from Bolton. Really bad officiating cost us at Stoke. Every team in the League has been Inconsistent (to some degree) this season. For that reason I'm just going to judge it on the Final standings. Top ten and I'm a happy chappy. After that, bring on transfer time, which I love.

I'll second that mate, if we finish top 10, and with the promise of a few decent additions in the summer, then it's a decent season, if a wee bit tainted.

I'm already starting to feel optimistic for next season, which is strange, but good!

Downing would be the Villa lad i'd be focusing on, although i'd have Warnock in a flash

Young Colback has given my optimism a boost too, he has really surprised me with his composure on the ball. Looks like he might just have saved us more money to spend on our other weaker areas.

Aye he's really come on, he looked nowhere near good enough when he got in, but he's looking really good now, growing week on week.

We can talk all we want about big name signings, but we'd all love a core of local lads in the team, surely.

Yeah definately need a few locals, they can make sure all the other players know what's expected from them, and what it means to us.

The derby showed that, mind Jordan was toss both games, but i'm putting that down to him being so desperate to make an impression, he'll be stronger for it next season, you'd hope.

Aye, and he wasn't the most experienced of the choker's. Another plus point of Colback, Hendo can now stay on the right.

Absolutely, repeating ourselves we know, but on the right he can make it, in the centre he will not.

Be great to see Jordan, Noble, Colback, Meyler, Lynch and a couple more in the match day squads.

Well on the cards as well.

I'm really excited about this Billy Knott lad, never seen himplay, but it seems everyone that has thinks the lads got a bit extra, and if a manager of the stature of Hiddink saw fit to train a then 14 year old with the first team, as rumoured, that's a ringing endorsement for natural talent if ever i saw one!

I'd say we over achieved at first then massively under achieved. So if we finish 10th it'll be a decent result overall but feel like a let down in someways.
