You can't blame them for looking at it, not a leg to stand on though.

I for one am not in the slightest bit surprised but as it is unlikely to have any effect on QPR it's not really worth worrying about.

I think the point the Swansea bosses are trying to establish is did QPR break the very same rule that Luton were docked points for. If was the very same rule and the cases were identical then many, myself included, would come to the conclusion that the punishment handed to QPR was not the right one. If that is the case then the FA have got something to answer to, and rightly so but it still will not impact QPR.

Sports lawyer Farnell hails QPR result
    9th May 2011

By Chris Barry - Editor, North West

SPORTS law expert Chris Farnell of IPS Law advised Coca Cola Championship winners QPR in its legal action with the Football Association, which saw it escape a points deduction after the signing of an Argentine player.

London-based QPR was instead fined £875,000 after being found guilty of two out of seven charges relating to the third-party ownership of midfielder Alejandro Faurlin.

The club could have missed out on promotion to the Premier League if the FA panel had imposed a stiffer sanction.

Mr Farnell, who founded niche Hale-based practice IPS Law in 2006 after leaving Hill Dickinson, said: "I am pleased with what is a very, very good result for QPR.

"I have been involved in the matter since its inception last August and unfortunately it came to its conclusion much later than anyone wanted."

He said comments in the media from "so called experts" pronouncing QPR would be deducted 15 points had put "intolerable pressure" on the club's players, management and officials, but the independent panel had reached the right conclusion.

"They imposed sanction on two of the lesser charges and the club has been fined £875,000. We have not seen the detail on this yet, so we don't know if its is something we will appeal."

Mr Farnell is no stranger to legal cases surrounding the controversial question of third-party player ownership. He acted for Sheffield United players in the aftermath of the Carlos Tevez/West Ham affair in 2008.

Our case was vastly different from Luton's. They used an unregistered agent. We used an agent registered with Fifa (the world governing body of the sport for goodness sake!) but not registered to the FA. We also did not pay any bungs, Luton did.

It's a silly comparison to draw. Just like those who drew Tevez/Swindon analogies!

If that remark was aimed at me then I would ask you retract it and get off your high horse - I was not making any comparison, I was highlighting why Swansea want to think about taking action, which they are quite entitled to do so if they think they have a case.

Swear Huw Jenkins said they respected the FA's decision and wouldn't be appealing.

I have a reply for them.

How about '**** off your not even members of the FA, we suggest you take it up with the FAW'

Its our own fault we didn't beat Leeds, we didn't even try a leg for the last hour. I'm still angry about that performance

Not aimed at you, just a reply to the general point regarding Luton. Lot's of people are drawing comparisons but Luton/Swindon/West Ham are all very different cases.

Wasn't Luton's case about multiple offences?

I think that the FA really do need to issue some clarity with how they reach decisions: not just ours on Saturday and why leave it till just before kick-off to issue a verdict, when, they had all necessary information as far back as September last year. They also need to clarify their fit and proper owners test, and why they allow clubs to overspend as in Portsmouth. Also the points deductions and how they reached decisions for Luton and Swindon. Why do the FA allow some managers to get away with critising referees befores games which probably influences games. We as fans pay the FA wages, and personally, as far as I am concerned the FA stans for Fooking Amateurs. Also, as so far as Swansea and Cardiff, why don't they join the FA rather than rely of the FAW. the FA and RAW have differing rules meaning that their never is a level playing field.

As a QPR fan, I had a feeling that there was only ever going to be a fine, however, I did expect Paladini to receive a ban / punishment. If I was a Swansea or Cardiff fan I would probably be feeling a bit miffed at the decision but then would I have all the information? And would I want to join the FA - probably not.

It must be time for an overhall at the FA and get people in who can run the organisation effectively and sensibly. Ex players and managers and maybe ex referees could or should be brought in, and as a thought, a full list of crimes and punishments (or at least a for example - you can be deducted points for playing unregistered player anything from 1 to 20).

I find the Swansea reaction really very sad. They weren't good enough to get into the 2 auto positions so they look into getting up by default. Really hope they lose the play offs now.

They might as well have a look. They've got nothing to lose and everything to gain even if there's a 0.1% chance of being successful.
