Only downside is that we'd lose him in January to the African Cup of Nations, along with Tiote.

As for Arsenal, Djourou is vastly improved this year. Him going off injured in the 4-4 was a pivotal moment in the match, if he didn't go off we wouldn't have drawn even with Diaby sent off. Plus with Vermalen coming back I don't think Wenger would spend that much on a CB. In summary, he may be obtainable and would be a great signing.

Wait..is this all fan speculation or have we been linked with him?

I know we where recently linked with Demba Ba, but I haven't seen anything on SamBA! Just need a little clarification here thanks. <ok>

As this is pure fan speculation, does anyone else really wish we could somehow contact Pards and explain the idea to him?

The fact that he isn't even looking at Samba (and probably isn't even looking for a new CB) is rather frustrating.

It would be brilliant if there was some sort of fans forum that could feed ideas and thoughts into the club. I guess our only hope is that Pardew cruises that chat forums.

I'd imagine that he has far too much of an ego to take on board what any measly fan says. I just hope the idea pops into his head one day and he sees how a new CB could improve the squads defence. He often talks about how the defence hasn't been good enough and costs us games, so perhaps it's in his gameplan.

Surely, SURELY he must be able to see that Willo is nowhere near as good as Colo, and a new CB who is nearer on-par with Colo would be a serious improvement...

To be fair to Pardew, a new few new strikers is obviously the most important thing. <ok>

So? I'd be mighty pissed off if Pardew got wrapped up in all the hype and only focused on strikers whilst neglecting the rest of the squad.

If he keeps a level head on he'll take a careful look at the whole squad and strengthen it in key areas. I hope so, anyway.

Agree with this. But if there was a remote chance that we could sign a rock like Samba then we'd be mad to pass it up. Although as we've said, it isn't even speculation yet! Winger and a couple of attacking players are top of the list tho.

He's a professional, only a foolish person would go crazy and sign players just because his fans are exited. I mean come on, if a bunch of normal people like us who are not in the business can see these great players and what are faults are, he surely can.

I don't know. We're talking about the guy who once said in an article something like "I think these last few games will have changed a lot of the opinions which fans have for players like Ameobi and Lovenkrands".

All managers are really clever when it comes to football, but it's amazing how much different their views can be when they're by the pitch and interact with the players on a daily basis in games and in training. I doubt they ever have a 100% logical view like us fans do.

As the manager he's not going to come out and state "Sure Ameobi and Lovenkrands are pretty much useless but we've not really got anyone else to play those positions."

He's just backing them up and trying to keep them motivated.

I'd be very surprised to see Lovenkrands next season but Ameobi being retained would never surprise me. He's blackmailing the owners somehow...

Two strikers, RW, DM, RB, LB and perhaps a new CB
