Harry Redknapp has vowed to sell Jose Bosingwa for refusing to be a substitute and claimed many of his Queen’s Park Rangers squad are earning unjustifiably high wages. A furious Redknapp revealed after his side’s 1-0 defeat at Newcastle that he had fined Bosingwa £130,000 – two weeks’ wages – for saying he would not go on the bench in the game against Fulham last week. The Rangers manager, who only took charge at Loftus Road last month, said Bosingwa’s salary eclipsed anything earned by players at his former club Tottenham. When asked about his players’ general attitude, Redknapp said: “I fined a player this week and discovered he is on more than any of the players at Spurs.” Asked specifically about Bosingwa, he continued: “He didn’t travel. He felt he was too good to be on the substitute’s bench. “I’ve fined him two weeks’ wages, which is £130,000, which isn’t bad for two weeks work is it? How do I handle a player like that? Maybe he’ll find out in January.” Defeat at St James’ Park left Rangers rooted in the relegation zone, five points adrift of safety, but Redknapp suggested he might not attempt to add significantly to his squad after claiming the club had been exploited in previous transfer windows. “I don’t know if I want to spend the owner’s money next month as there are players here who earn far too much money for what they are in terms of ability,” he said. “I won’t let them [Rangers] have their pants pulled down any more. They have been taken advantage of by agents and I won’t let that happen again. “We have a ground that holds 18,000 people. Newcastle’s holds more than 50,000 people and they won’t have players on more money than we’ve got. “You look at their bench today and they had options. They could bring Shola on and he has won them the game. “My two centre-backs were superb today. If I could get a few more in like them we’ll be fine, but I’ve got too many players earning far too much for what they are.”
Music to any QPR fan's ears. Possibly a bit of the pot calling the kettle black from Harry but maybe he has learnt his lesson and will help Tony with 'The Project'. I am prepared to believe that Tony will stay if we go down but will Harry?
What I'd like to know is, what do all the arse-lickers think of Harry's stance? You know, the fans who defend these types of players to the last? Surely if they have any kind of consistency and conviction in their beliefs they must be horrified at Redknapp's ill treatment of this good honest lad?
Christ man you keep banging on about this but virtually to a man (and woman) we have all voiced our disgust at Bosingwa for his performances and attitude. Must every post be an attempt to get peoples backs up?
Don't get why we question whether Harry will stay or not. He signed a 2.5 year contract when the chances of survival were slim. He knew the position. I thought the length of contract meant he'd have the chance to bring us straight back up if we went down and have another crack in the epl.
In amongst his nonsense there is often some decent stuff but it sure gets tiresome sifting out the deliberately inflammatory bits.
Talking of OM and Barton - they are on ESPN now. Barton getting a bit argumentative. Some decent players on both teams.
Bosingwa? Another one of those great players we got from Chelsea. Best RB we got and expect Harry will have him playing better than ever before January.
We will bounce straight back up??...Not so sure about that and just because Harry has signed a 2 year contract, doesnt say whats in the contract and if he has a get out clause if we a relegated?. If we go down and a prem club come in for him, then he offski
No but there's some people who persist in backing these punks even when its got to this stage of disrespect to the fans. We even had one today saying that he felt sorry for the players yesterday because it was raining! At least that muttonhead is consistent. So all I'm asking is for those player apologists to stand by their principles and express their abhorrence at the way Redknapp is mocking them and making them look so bad. Maybe they could petition 'Arry to go softer on them because it was raining in Newcastle after all?
