While I agree with Wubba that long term we need young, hungry players like Michu or Benteke, short term, if we can sign one or two players of the Nelsen-ilke that will do a job, I can understand why Harry would do it. Actually, Chelsea or not, I'd have more confidence that Lampard would perform, than say Anelka who, though we are desperate for a quality striker, can obviously be temperamental.

Besides, who're we going to replace to accommodate Lampard anyway? I'd personally feel him uncomfortable seeing him start at the expense of faurlin/mbia/diakite (you can even add Derry to that list). It seems often our eyes are bigger than our stomachs- is he really significantly better than what we've got to merit adding him to the wage bill? This is the very issue that's seen us find ourselves in our current predicament: replacing that which doesn't need replacing. If we hadn't been so eager to ditch the championship winning squad, and simply made one or two additions (in the style of Swansea and Norwich), then we probably wouldn't be facing relegation.
Frankly i'm not sure how we can expect our players to show loyalty to the club, if we show no loyalty to them (and call for them to be replaced by the Lampards of this world at every opportunity).

Lampard scores goals. Goals from our midfield are as rare as hen's teeth...

Who's he gona replace? Presumably we'd only pay his extortionate wages if he's going to start every game, in which case we might as well sell faurlin or diakite? They both seem passionate about QPR which is a rarity in the squad.
To be honest i'm not sure he'd score a lot of goals. I'm sure it's easy surrounded by the superstars of chelsea.
Doesn't it make sense to get a young hungry striker if we'd like goals?

I don't think Harry would bring in Lampard instead of a striker, Grifter. We need a striker too. Who would he replace in the squad? Granero. Faurlin and Diakite would compete for a place in the team as now.

Mbia has been brilliant so he's definitely gona start, which leaves one other spot for another central midfielder (assuming we play the 4231 we beat Fulham with). That consigns Faurlin & Diakite to the bench if lampard starts.
I'd prefer two strikers with a resale value to one striker plus Frank

I agree a good CF and CB are the top priorities but a goal scoring midfield player like Lampard on loan for the rest of the season would be perfect. We don't have a regular goal scorer at all now, a goal scoring midfield one could save us. Of course he got to want to play for us, but I don't think Harry will buy him if not.

Who would you play him ahead of though Oslo? Lets not forget Faurlin bossed him at Loftus Road earlier this season.
I'm honestly not sure he'd score that many goals. He's been part of a dominant chelsea team surrounded by a plethora of attacking talent- who spend a lot of time around the opposition's box, so he's bound to get shooting opportunities. Even then, he's only scored 3 in 13 this season.
We're not the same sort of team, the majority of time we feel lucky to simply be in the opponent's half. Chelsea have scored 36 goals this season, so Lamps has got 8% of their goals. If he had 8 % of our goals this season he'd have 1.2 goals. But even then i think that's unlikely, as he's simply not going to get the same opportunities to score whilst playing for us.
We thought cisse would score loads, and hoillet would be brilliant. Slot these players into a relegation threatened side though and they tend not to perform as expected.

Have we all forgotten that we also have our club captain JSP to return to midfield

We don't need any more midfielders, let alone fat ex Chelsea ones on a one way all expenses paid trip to retirement

I think you argue your case really well mate and I'm struggling to fit him in too. And we certainly don't need any more midfielders. I just don't agree with people saying he's not good enough or that we shouldn't have him because he's ex-chelsea.

Just can't agree mate, sorry. Whether he would have the heart for our relegation struggle is another question all together. We have had many ex-chelsea players over the years who have been Rangers heroes have we not? Dave Webb etc.

Peacock and Spencer (although QPR first) were as well. Loads of players have played for both. It's not uncommon at all especially in the Premier League, it's even happening with Spurs/Arsenal/Chelsea.

I don't think Lampard would be what you guys need but disagree with the reasons. If a player was good enough, I'd have him anyday even if he played for Spurs, West Ham or Arsenal. Heck, Lampard was from West Ham <yikes>

Not after agreement col but taking frank would be a poor move for us. I can't see him having any passion for us in reality beyond getting paid and he's kissed that chelsea badge far too often for me

My point is that there are plenty of far better younger hungrier cheaper more productive options than the fatboy offers

Ok mate, I know you're not looking for agreement,
I do, however, agree that he probably is just too Chelsea to get involved with our relegation struggle. I just don't agree with the premise that we shouldn't sign ANY player because they are ex-Chelsea. (He's not fat either....always puzzled me that!)

Oh I'd happily take a Chelsea player such as lukaku or Cahill on the basis that it's just a club move for them but lampard terry cole are core of chelsea and would only leave if booted out or after a last payday

I liked it when lukaku was interviewed yesterday and said he would prefer to stay at WBA

I saw frank interviewed after todays game and it's clear he wants to stay there and good for him. Coming to us would be a downward step in his mind and we don't need that

The problem for us is the young, hungry, up-and-coming players are not available in January unless you pay really over-the-top for them. We're really left with Hobson's choice and if Harry thinks Lampard can do it for us I'd trust his judgement...

Soopers I reckon even if frank joined on a free his wage demands would be equal to a transfer fee for mackail smith or some other youngster

There's plenty of deals to be done in January you just need to know where to look and I'm sure Harry does

Fair enough. I'd got the impression that you didn't want ANY ex-Chelsea players, ever.
