http://aggbot.com/Liverpool-News/257/article/18584899 IMO he should get 1 more yr, still got a bit to offer IMO, obviously only a bit part player now, but you need 4 CDs these days and he would be the 4th,admittedly earning a lot less cash than he is now Either way LFC legend
In 2 minds yes he should get 1 more year after this 1 and put him on pay as you play contract. But then i think no he should hang his boots up and start concentrating on getting his coach badge But agree with OP pure legend
He's already done his coaching badges hasn't he? I think we should offer him one more year but make him a player-coach
When he first got in the side I really didn't rate him, he frustrated the hell out of me with his netball style too. However, when Rafa arrived and converted him back to CB he was like a whole new player. I'm still the same with him really, he is a **** full back but is still capable of offering something at CB when needed. #legend
i can see one more year and use him mainly for the European games(assuming we are in them obviously) or to rest players in league WHEN lol we are comfortable in games. if CL not sure, but def use him for Europa if we get European football next season. i was worried about playing him in the Europa to be honest, but he has prob been one of our better players.
This season he has made a few appearances from the bench at DM. It is funny watching him there, he clearly has no idea where he should be and runs about like a headless chicken
717 appearances cannot be argued with, rightfully and forever a legend. I'd prefer to keep him at the club, if he is happy being a bit part, especially if he gets the reception he got against Fulham, when he does come on.
anyone see him becoming no 2 to Brendan at some point and get experience that way like a Steve Clarke say, or manage the youth? he has to be involved in the club somehow, just where.
Top player and a top guy. Will never forget him at Istanbul, stretching for everything and putting his heart on the line. He's took some undeserved stick over the last few seasons, but he'll always be a legend.
From FSG's perspective, he's not offering value for money at the moment. I think they'll keep him on another year if they can slash his wage down to match his role in the team. Pretty sure he'll end up on the coaching staff either part or full time at the end of this season.
This Think hes on about £65k a week at the mo, obviously this season he aint worth that, I think they would offer him a new deal with some coaching involved at approx £15k to £20k a week, would he take it, I suspect he would.Hes a wily ol fox Carra he knows the score, he understands the views of the owners and I dont think hes the unrealistic type who would want massive wages " on history" not on present
True. But after having read is autobiography im not totally sure. He stated had he not been given what he thought deserved then he would of left previously. But he also states he wants to stay in the hame after hanging up his boots. We'll see.
As bow4fowler said, Carragher said he his book that if he isn't playing at Liverpool then he would consider moving somewhere else rather than sit on the bench collecting the pennies. Obviously I'd prefer him to stay but nor would I bregrudge him going somewhere for one last hurray so long as he comes back when he hangs his boots up
Anyone who plays 700+ games for one club is already a legend in my opinion before he retires. He's only human and has made the odd mistake or two but think of all the times he has saved points for his beloved Liverpool FC. Start collecting for the statue!
