Only Leicester and Leeds to beat to do this. Do you think we can do it and have we ever done it before?
January 2004, admittedly only 4 games though. Cambridge. H 2-0 Darlington. A 0-1 Oxford. H 4-2 Cheltenham. A 0-2 Almost September 2003 too 6 games, 4 wins with 2 draws away at Donny & Orient. December 2004. Macclesfield. H 4-0 FA Cup Sheffield Wed. A 2-4 Colchester. A 1-2 Tranmere. H 6-1 Blackpool. A 0-2 Doncaster. H 2-0
I thought March 2008 was, but I've just checked and we started that month with a loss to Bristol City, and Cardiff beat us 1-0 as well. There were eight games that month though. Six out of eight is pretty impressive.
I can see Lessta being a potential banana skin but L**ds? to be perfectly honest, even Lessta shouldnt be a problem. The way we have taken teams apart, however playing at home is not a 'sure thing' like it should be.
Must admit, I was worried coming into this month with the teams we faced/facing. Just shows there was nothing for me to be worried about
According to my husband, in the 1948/49 season Hull City started the season with 2 perfect months in a row. 3 league wins in August and 6 league wins in September. Lost only 4 league games which saw them win the 3rd Division North. Raich Carter days evidently!
I am with you are this one, however would it be better to have 2 draws yielding 2 points, thereby staying unbeaten over Xmas which might be better for morale, or a win and a loss yielding 3 points?
Just go for it John. What i saw of Lesta yesterday they are very open at the back. Keep Flockheart quite and they struggle to make chances. TWS could be running on empty by the 29th. Dont rule out a 100% December John and a SB manager award. Lol.
You could very well be right about TWS, they got a really run around from Chelsea in the 2nd half. Also the fact that we played Friday, gives us an extra days rest before the Lesta game, which could be also helpful.
Always take the 3/0 pts rather than 1/1 from 2 games regardless of the run - the reason we are where we are is because we have so few draws this year.
I would say that you guys will be favourites and in fairness should be favourites against us but don't underestimate because we started the season poorly. We have the best form over the last 6 games in the league and that includes some tough games against the likes of Leicester, Middlesborough and Crystal Palace. We are finally finding our feet and winning games again
Agree we should be favourites- we are better than Leeds and Lesster, even if Leeds have shown flashes of good form recently. The only danger for us is complacency (and brown envelopes).
Peterborough have shown that there's no gimmes in this league and no team can underestimate any other team. It's one of the reasons why I feel this league is far superior to the Prem.
I have to say I agree, that extra point might be the difference in going up or not. It would just be nice to go through December unbeaten.
