Only second game of the season. Veryry poor, but at least we can defend now. We clearly missed Lallana, and Ramirez went missing a bit 2nd half. Too many under performing. Puncheon looking good though. Not end of the world, that was Friday! Enjoy Festivities everyone.

I have to say I disagree with you there, thought it was one of his worst games this season. He didn't seem to have the confidence on the ball that he usually has when taking it past players- as a result he lost the ball.

Yeah, 8 and he's been far from fit for a few weeks too, people said we'd paid too much, personally a striker with a 1 in 3 record for poor teams in the Prem aged 24 seemed more than fair, as is being proven.

He is just a goalscorer, and they are like gold dust.

Think it's 8 in 17 appearances for us (Fletcher)

    I agree.

There was a time not so long ago, whenI thought we would be cut well adrift by now .

Gutted we lost today to a rival , but out of the bottom 3 at christmas?I'll take that !

Yes it could be better , but it could also be much MUCH worse .

Anyway , hope you all have a Happy Christmas !!!!

I thought de Ridder actually wanted to have a go, but clearly not suited to the left side. Lee must have really pissed off NA not to get onto the bench

It's so obvious guys, we lost because we didn't have Billy Sharp! Duh!

Aye, he's got a lovely touch as well, could do with putting himself about a bit more, but I can't complain about the lad.

We really should go 4-4-2 and play him with Whickham, but MON insists on 4-5-1 and counter attacking, which is a bit of a waste of players like Sess & Johnson.

I don't think you can evoke Barcelona as illustrative of Sunderland in the same thread without getting one of these: <laugh>

    Ha,

To be fair mate, Whickham has been smashing them in for fun in the ressies, and was superb v Norwich, I'd have been comfortable with him playing.

Fletch is just such an instinctive finisher though, the goal was typical of what he does, loose ball, first time finish.

    He's a top striker.

Why the **** did Adkins bring De Ridder on? He's not good enough for the Championship so how is he going to be good enough for the PL. Sorry but Adkins ****ed up there. Should have given Mayuka more time.

Agreed yeah he looked a lil clumsy, but least he was running at their defence.

Yes, but what's the point if he can't deliver a good cross regularly.

Mayuka was very poor, De ridder was really good when he came on, sure he had his normal crossing issues, but it was better than what we had the rest of the game which was no cross at all!

The lack of quality outside your starting 11 should be a big worry for your lot.
