Ever since he started coaching Mcclean and now Johnson they are both ****.

How Mcclean is getting picked is beyond me. How Wickham can't get a game is beyond me.

McLean has been very decent and grafted his bollocks off for the last 6-7 games, people are way too harsh on the lad.

How about for once we concentrate on a massive 3 points, in appaling conditions eh?

    Spot on. <ok>
Just me thought we deserved that win?
We were the better team for large parts of the second half.
I didn't catch the first half mind.

Thought mcclean played well today myself. Do agree CW should get some gametime, especially with fletch clearly not 100% yet.

I think we just about deserved it mate, we could have scored a couple more first half, and second half given the conditions keeping it tight was the right way to go.

Excellent result, massive 3 points, delighted.

McClean has worked his bloody socks off and has been much better in the last few games...However, it appears that some fans just can't exist without a scapegoat, and it looks like he is it at the moment..

Spot on RAW been saying this for weeks, we always have to have one.

The lad busts his knackers for the team, yes, he may lack a bit of quality, but his work rate alone benefits the team massively, and he DOES work defenders.

I don't dispute he works hard however he gives possession away all the time. Sess was **** today, total lack of effort and some woeful passing. Johnson was piss poor.

Personally I think they all should be dropped.

Yes a good away win today. Defended well second half. We are awful to watch. Campbell but a good shift in when he came on. Mug was rarely bothered. We again sat too deep for the last 10 minutes and invited pressure.

I'm not making Mcclean a scapegoat as we won today. At no point am I blaming him for our poor dorm. I'm saying his form is **** and he should not be getting picked. mon is showing certain players far too much loyalty.

However you are clearly watching a different game to me as he was ****. He can't pass the ball either.

I watch every minute of every Sunderland game mate, and he has been one of, probably THE best player in the side for a few weeks.

It was ****ting down with rain, players like Sess & Ramirez for them will always find that tough, it's utter bollocks to say McLean isn't worthy of his place at the minute, it's bandwagon-jumping scapegoating and it's ****ing ridiculous.

I guess you fail to see the lad tracking back busting his bollocks and winning tackles, closing down defenders and always looking to move the team forward, let's find his passing stats and compare them to the rest of the team, I dare say he is close to the top for completed passes.

    Every year someone gets it.

I'm not jumping on anyone's band wagon - I'll make my own mind up thanks very much.

Look up the word scapegoat as I have already explained I'm not blaming him for anything.

I too have watched every game this season. Like I say we must be watching different games. I've never suggested he doesn't work hard but he is virtually ineffective at the moment. He doesn't hide and he keeps going. However he is in the side to create goals and score them.

You are perfectly entitled to disagree with me but don't tell me what I'm doing and why.

I don't tell you that your blinkered and favouring him no matter how bad he gets.

I'm far from blinkered, he certainly does have shortcomings, but he is always the man singled out, even when there are 6 or 7 players worse than him, like today.

That is scapegoating, is it not? The one person who always gets singled out or blamed?

My thread started out by pointing out BOTH wingers were very poor and have been for a while.

You are not seriously suggesting Mcclean was our BEST player??

I thought Sess' was worse than him and I would happily see Sess on the bench. These two frustrate me the most as when we look promising up the pitch they both waste possession.

I never said he was our best player, but he worked very hard all match and was absolutely worth his shirt today.

You said he was the best player for the last few weeks?

Anyway, I looked up the stats and his pass completion was around 65%

That said Colback was 94%. He never tries a creative pass though. Johnson was in the 80's as was Larrson. Even sess was in the 80's lowest were Gardner and Fletcher.

McClean is like Bardo for me, works his socks off but is a very limited player.

Agreed monsmush. We're all after the same thing and I've defended the team for a long time. I think we will stay up no problems.

I'm happy for debate and good points well made can often make you rethink your own. You've made me think about mine. Good Craic and merry Christmas.

MR I thought we deserved the points too. Mig only made one save out if the ordinary whereas Davies made a few. They had 13 shots on target but I reckon 11 or 12 of them were regulation. I would say at lease 4 of the ones Davies made had more about them than regulation. Defence was the best we've played in last 6 or 7.
