Having a gathering here on Boxing Day. People driving over for a fun time ... except between 2pm and 3pm parking restrictions are normally in force. "What?" you say "surely not on bank holidays?" Nope, in the independent republic of Barnet all bank holidays have been discounted except Christmas day. So the parking restrictions are in force, and we have to provide every car with a parking voucher which you can obtain from the council for a mere cost of £25 for 12 (a slight increase from the previous cost of £1 each!) This is in addition to the annual parking permit of £100 each, £130 for a second car. Good job the inflation rate is 2% (does anyone know something that has gone up by less than the rate of inflation?) Wondering who voted for this? I'm sure when I last checked their parking site Boxing Day was excluded as well! Barnet is bad, but I've been towed by Camden and Kenton before. A couple of years back I was parked near a friend's place in Kenton on a single yellow line on New Year's Day (couldn't see the single yellow as it was covered in leaves) and I got towed. Cost a couple of hundred then too.
I gave up trying to park in Barnet after a very annoying 20 mins spent trying to use my phone to pay for a parking bay in Ballards Lane. Totally **** system designed by idiots.
Yes, completely forgot about the coinless parking system in Barnet where you can't put money into any machines, you can only phone to pay. Ultimately self-defeating for local businesses I think. (Thank you for replying to the original point by the way! If people aren't interested in this discussion they needn't post here saying it's pointless. I assume they think the world revolves around them.)
