Glad to hear he wants and will utilise someone as the main striker and play Suarez wide or as number 10. I know the targets aren't the most exciting, but that is good that he thinks the same way.

I dont think he means that. I think he means Suarez will have freedom to move into wide positions and drop deep.

Here is an interesting one. He says that it is vital to bring in a creative number 10 in the summer, even though he has high hopes for Suso in the future.

In Rodgers 433 Suares is the false 9, with no direct striker. The number 10 figure is positioned more as the most attacking player in the middle three.

Lucas is the vital anchor to this midfield. Allen is the play maker/ ball retainer and also Rodgers favourite.

Gerrard is the attacker. So... Where does this leave Gerrard next season?

I think Rodgers hoped Sahin could play this role. A creative pass and move expert who will get in the box. But Sahin has said he is not comfortable there.

I find these plans very exciting.

This all sounds nice, but he also told us we'd get a couple signings in the summer that we'd be excited about. As long as they get a move on and finish those deals, I'll be happy.

Sure you can say we'll be active, most clubs will. But if that means more Assaidi's (nothing about the player, just the situation) and less Suarez's then I'm not impressed. I'm also not impressed with the fact that we'll be throwing around 7 million pounds to re-sign one of our rejects. A double punch, firstly that we let him go, and now to have to spend millions out of our transfer kitty.

To top it off we're choosing between Theo Walcott and Sturridge as the other signing. Neither has really cut it for a few years, and although Walcott could offer us composure in front of goal, it makes me miss the days when scouting was more than a pop round the park to see who's playing.

Are our scouts afraid of flying? Did they miss the geography lessons where they were taught about other countries? Continents? Have our scouts not watched the CL in the past few years? for the money we're going to spend on Sturridge we could buy ourselves most strikers in the top leagues outside of England.

Do they not use the internet to read about all the players who would rather play at Liverpool than Villareal, Fiorentina, Udinese, Rayo Vallecano, Valencia, Dortmund, Leverkusen, etc? People always bang on about how "no one wants to play for us without CL" but they don't realise that not many players CAN play there. There are clubs that have quality that also aren't in the Champions League.
We signed Alonso from Real Sociedad. Yes we had CL football but honestly, would a player from any of these clubs reject Liverpool? They wouldn't.

I'd like to be cautious before I commend anyone for talking about being active the transfer window.

  11. Ince is not a reject, he left us in favour of playing football!

IMO that should be commended, we condemn players for chosing money and we can't have it both ways.

Not saying I am happy or excited by him rejoining, just pisses me off that posterz call him a reject and think we got rid of him <doh>

Type of players BR wants in next 12 months IMO

number 9 x 1 - Huntelaar type but probably younger
Wing Forwards, PRIORITY - Forwards who drift wide, and SCORE, and dont get in full backs way, they stay narrow(younger version of Dirk), Sturridge,Walcott,Ince , minimum 2 players
    Number 10 - Classy no 10, Isco,Belhanda,Erikkson
Left Back / Winger - Someone who can compete with Jose, but can also play in the front 3 on the wing and get goals, a younger version of Vargas would be perfect

I feel that Robinson will be deflated by the left back comment, he's a very good defender but not great going forward.

    My guess is

    Ince,Sturridge........................ Jeffren on loan

If Erikkson,Isco,Belhanda came available BR would ask the owners to move straight away, as they may not come available again. In the long term , I think he sees the no 10 position as the most important player on the pitch, I do too, you could tell he sees that role as important when he says "top" number 10

Is Erikkson still set on only playing in Spain?

think i heard that , was a while ago though.

good guess, does look like most likely, only thing is i think we might end up failing on getting a loan deal in, which worries me a bit.

Erikksons form over the last 12 months hasnt been as good apparently as it was, prior to that, so he may have to lower his expectations a bit.TBH out of the 3 I think hes gonna be the least good of the 3, with Isco being the best, who if Messi wasnt around would probably be a worlds future best player

I've heard a lot of talk with Rodgers so far and not a great deal of action.

    Hopefully this will change.
