No progress in QPRâs bid to sign duo â boss 21/12/2012 by West London Sport Harry Redknapp says QPR have not yet progressed with their attempt to bring Joe Cole and Robbie Keane to Loftus Road. Rangers have made enquiries about both players, with Cole, 31, earmarked as a possible replacement for Adel Taarabt, who is expected to be involved in the Africa Cup of Nations. Keane, 32, played under Redknapp at Tottenham and the Rangers boss has expressed an interest in taking him on loan from LA Galaxy now the MLS season has ended. And Redknapp plans to make an approach to Liverpool for Cole, who played under him at West Ham, when the transfer window opens. But he has played down reports he has already held talks with the former England starâs representatives. âThereâs not really anything happening [with Keane] and nothing with Joe. Weâve not done anything with anybody really,â said Redknapp. âWeâve been concentrating on just trying to get a team out there to get a result against Newcastle this weekend.â
You know with Harry, he always says the opposite ................. so they must be signed, sealed and yet to be delivered. Must admit I'm not keen on Keane ........ pardon the pun.
Just like usual. This is the smoke screen, the real targets and deals are being lined up as we write.
What is it with Joe Cole and Harry. Cole scored 4 and had 2 assists in 32 league games in France. Is that good stats for attacking midfielder. Come on France league
Maybe 'Arry sees it differently but I'd rather we develop Hoilett to understudy Taarabt than bring Cole in. The Af Con provides a great opportunity for that. Keane on loan for the second half of the season would a useful acquisition imo. Keeps defenders occupied and knows where the goal is.
Agree with the Hoilett bit Brix. Keane did a very handy job for Villa last year - he turned it round for them when we were 2 up at their place. But we would only have him for a couple of months, not the rest of the season, as the MLS kicks off again soonish. Have to admit, Harold is very good at this stuff. He always seems really open and free with the info, but when you re-read what he says there is very little in it - he's spinning loads of plates, warning that we won't be ripped off again, making sure Tony knows the score - at the moment we are in for every player out there, but actually he's after character. Lampard looking ever more likely to me, despite his 'cant afford him' line. Still think a couple of good quality loans will do it for us, no need for yet more wholesale change.
I'm sure Harry is working hard with Hoilett, we all saw what he did for Blackburn, so the potential is there...
