My taste in music has at times been called into question many, many times.
But I really don't understand how either of these are at all popular!

After spending two hours this afternoon supervising an upper primary Xmas party in which 'gangam style' featured large for virtually the whole two hours - I return home to my haven of peace to find this?

    AAAAARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!

Is it me or does the lead Gangnam line sound more like 'Open Condom Star' ?? And that cannot be a good thing.

I may be in my early 40s but I am down wit' 'dem yoot. Either that or my daughter insists on a local FM station instead of my 'old fart' CDs on the school run.

But what is not to like about The Pogues, The Dropkick Murphy's, Runrig, Gary Moore et al ? The kids today eh ?

Of course with the first two above, tracks have to be carefully vetted if I ever get away with them on the school run.

On a related subject, I hear The Pogues played the O2 last night and it was a great success (I assume Shane McGowan wasn't there and Spider Stacey was still fronting them). I saw them play many years ago at the Hammersmith Palais and the less said about that night the better.

    As The Dropkick Murphys said.....

'Now there comes a time in every man's life, where decisions have to be made. Whether to toil, to labour or just plain pish your days away, away'.

    Decisions indeed. It's a chin-stroker.

    Saxet,

When you think of Christmas songs (going around Sainsburys this time of year it's hard not to) one of the few which doesn't grate is "Fairytale of New York". Who would of thought when it was released that today Kirsty would have be in her grave for 12 years, killed by a Mexican playboy who has never been brought to justice. While Shane would still going, living in the twilight world that he inhabits.
I'll never forget the documentary on him where he was seen staggering into a bar, falling out into the back yard and saying "where's the F****** pub".

One of the funniest things I have seen in ages was my mates son and his squaddy mate doing Gangnam style in this pub in Ipswich. We were smashed after the Mumford gig and these 2 just about cleared this pub...it was sooooooooo funny.

Utter crap music, but funny as fu** watching the yoot ripping it...

Whilst I took my daughter to Scotland earlier this year on a match day, I was listening to R5L all the journey. She finally sadi something when we were alomost at our destination (Spey Bay) Dad doesn't your radio play music<laugh> I said yes but not on a Saturday afternoon<laugh> I did however relent when the results came in;) and she is 19<yikes> My wife stupidly IMHO bought for whatever reasons the Rihanna CD and my grandaughter loves it, she is only 6 far too young IMO to be listening to that sort of cr@p and the lyrics if that is what you call them are disgusting! Says the bloke who in past used to listen to the punk band Anti-Nowhere League<yikes>
