the key piece of info from today is that Captain Conan will probably go the Jewson route. Simonsig was impressive but I don't think we saw an Arkle winner. 2/1 is a horrible price, but I'm gutted we haven't seen anyone push Overturn out to 8s.
The story is hawkeye that the yard sent it runners to the track in two horseboxes, one of which broke down! Very fortunate that the one they backed from 20's in to 3's was in the mechanically sound vehicle!
I saw that movie recently - a very young Pearce Brosnan playing the trainer - I wondered how long before someone tried it again
very fortunate. "The Stewards held an enquiry to consider the apparent improvement in form of the winner, BROWN PETE (IRE), ridden by William Carson and trained by Violet M. Jordan, compared with its previous run at Wolverhampton on 23 November where the gelding finished eighth, beaten by 10 lengths. They interviewed the trainer’s representative who stated that the gelding had benefitted from a change in tactics from forcing the pace last time to being held up on this occasion. Having heard his evidence they forwarded his explanation to the British Horseracing Authority so that the previous performances of BROWN PETE (IRE) could be reviewed. They ordered BROWN PETE to be routine tested. The Stewards held an enquiry into the reasons behind the five non-runners from Violet M. Jordan’s yard. They interviewed the trainer’s representative and the rider. The trainer’s representative stated that all their seven runners were booked in to travel with Nigel Hardy Transport. However, when informed that the lorry had broken down, they were reduced to one, 2-horse, box, and had to declare five horses as non-runners. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race the Stewards referred the matter to the British Horseracing Authority for further investigation" I believe the actual trainer of these horses is Steve Arnold. If there is no repercussions i'll be amazed. You couldn't ask for more evidence. i look forward to the race analyse tomorrow. They best not shirk this.
This is almost like for like with the Gay Future coup - I wonder if someone else saw that 1987 footage and thought it was time it was tried again. And in that case too, the real trainer was not the one the horse was entered by. In the Gay Future case bookies started to pay out (there was no internet and Cartmel had no telephonic communication, which made the plot a lot easier ocourse) but when rats started to be smelled the pay-outs were frozen. Well done you for spotting it
