we should fear no one,if we can build up a head of steam in this knock-out part of the competition,we can take the Chav's if we meet them
I know roo would be worried about chelsea and totsfan is fearless but f we manage to.get to the later stages and come up agaisnt A Madrid & falcao then they are more of a worry then the chavs. The chelsea defence would piss their pants at the thought of facing falcao again!
Falcao is incredible. he's almost up there with Ronaldo and Messi for me. However, from what i've seen, he carries the Ath.Mad team, where as chelsea have a squad full of top quality players throughout. Sandro can stop Falcao. job done
yeah what a player roo, to think villas boas had him & hulk in the same team. it sounds like A Madrid will have to sell Falcao in jan or end of season, we should blow this seasons and next seasons budget and we could maybe buy his right leg?
haha with our net spend, we'd be lucky to get his big toe nail! hopefully they'll sell him to chelsea in Jan. therefore we won't face him regardless of either club we're drawn against!
Hello from a newbie and merry christmas to all! As the world ends today I thought I might get myself an account. Hopefully I'll be able to say something for more than just the next few hours. As for the draw, I think it's great. As AVB said, this is a game that we could easily see played in the Champions league - I really hope people take notice of the calibre of teams in the Europa this year - some great games to be had there. A cup is a cup and I for one want to see us win something! Starting with this next game Lyon are a beatable side and I think we can get a decent result there. As for counting our chickens before they hatch; Milan? On a bit of a serie A slump with a narrow team perfect for our wide men. Could see us winning that game as well. Don't think we've got any teams to fear, but Athletico and Benfica will be sharp. Looking forward to what should make a great second half of the competition. Hopefully more than just Spurs look to take it seriously. Oh and as for Brazilians, really feel for Hulk but unless Levy pulls out a miracle I don't want to see him anywhere near the PL... and that Oscar bloke is pretty handy. Thank god Luiz is absolute kak.
I prefer the Europa league to the misnamed C/L,and i would love to see us win it,the only thing wrong with it is letting in the teams that are knocked out of the C/L,it's rewarding failing IMO
I don't disagree, but how would you organise the European competitions? A tournament just for the winners and then a larger Europa? Or change the name of the wrongly titled C/L and expand that and remove Europa? Or none of the above!
Also champs league spaces for the winners of the Europa would go some way to improving people's opinion of it.
Champs league for the Champions,europa for 2nd place and the 2 cup winners,that would put intrest back in the fa cup as well

It's going to be tough, but we're more than capable of giving anyone a decent game. It's funny you should say this. There was a thread no so long ago about the value of the CL and the EL. See that sounds really good, but you've then only got 4 teams in the competition instead of the 7 now. That would be a massive issue. It's a shame that the lost revenue from the larger number of games would never be accepted by clubs or tv execs. And I agree the FA cup needs to be returned to it's former glory. Older friends of mine talk about how revered it used to be as a competition but I've seen very little desire for it during my (albeit much shorter) lifetime. For me it comes down to the increased revenue generated from the bigger Euro competitions. I hope these FFP rules do something to stop money ruining the game entirely... but as far as I can see it's just going to put even more emphasis on tv rights for half arsed competitions and sponsorship/ naming rights. EDIT: Also, I feel as this has been discussed massively before (thanks for the heads up!!) I'll drop the topic there! Don't want to be repetitive and bore everyone on my first day! I'll wait for week 2 for that.
as far as i'm concerned the club's and tv would have to lump it,the fans would probaby prefer it,and it would stop the scramble for 4th place,and of course it would reward that competition winners

What you need to do is try and fail like you do in the League Cup year on year, then you'll have no further problem with that.
