you dont get it do you...I will always bring something up for discussion as its better than being all loved up thinking he is the bees knees when there is a chanceHe is not, and as for having a player 70% fit then im sorry only 100% fit is good enough for my team, Second point it is Barca themselves who said he has been poor and not up to standard not me, Im trying to generate a debate here and something we can talk about ans not all the bullshit that is on here most of the time....we are talking about a player that is not performing for his club but some of you should realize he is no messi by the sound of it.....I dont want us to be used by anyone not even the best club in the world. as for they dont want him playing against them in the champions league then i will assure you he cant...So the discussion is why little old swansea when he could choose far bigger clubs with better players that if you think he is that good would jump at the chance.....Its a debate gentleman something that is lacking on here...

I would rather have a 70% fit world star scoring every second match, then a unknown Israeli striker who is never scoring. That said we can't possibly know how well he would be playing should he arrive. Anyways, my point is that I think that the name David Villa would do a lot more to the club then his goals...

Sorry 100% fit players is a must in the premiership. maybe in the lower leagues but you cant carry a player who cant give his all...and dont give me that pony that because he is a world class player rubbish....

Bloody hell, Oh my God, etc etc.... I am in agreement with Dai on this, yes I am, well done Dai.

Villa as we know is a world class superstar of a footballer, prolific for both club and country, but, and its a big but, he is RECOVERING from a broken leg, first thought to be a career ending injury.

The 'great' Villa currently doesn't exist, a lesser version does. He currently is not, and is no where near, his old self and its human nature for such an injury to make him a different player concentrating on:
    a) not getting injured again
    b) protecting his expensive leg
    c) getting core fit
    d) getting match fit
    e) getting back to a state where he can perform and play for Barcelona

I don't see Swansea City in that list. No disrespect to him but if it happens then he comes to play for himself and not the Mighty Swans.

He will be here solely to use us as a 'training team' where he can get HIMSELF fit, he will not risk himself or his progress for us and I doubt we'd see him at 70% in any game for us, why should he risk the tens of millions of £'s he's set to earn over the next couple of years with Barcelona.

If he does come we will not see the great Villa playing for us but a shadow, a recovering ghost of a player who, once back to form will be gone.

Dai, I constantly sl8g you off because you are so negative so its good to be able to agree with you for a change. Nice one buddy <ok>

IF he's 70% fit, which he's probably not, then he's a hack of a player scoring five goals in less then five full matches (combined). He's been involved in more then two thirds of Barcelonas matches this season. Don't give me that pony that he's only 70% matchfit rubbish... How do you know...? He would give a enormous contribution IF he should arrive. I can't see NO fan at any club in GB being dissatisfied with a player like David Villa linked to their club... well, except you of course...

EDIT: Sorry, I forgot. He isn't linked to your club, now is he..? ;)

Laudrup is not going to even put him on the bench unless he has something to contribute. I saw him live in Getafe in September and he was sharp, scored and a force. He's coming here because he can achieve and maintain the match sharpness that he can't get riding the bench or not making the bench with the depth they have. I would imagine that he would be on some sort of instant recall in case they have injuries and let's face ii he's not going to be cup-tied playing for us .... at least not this season.

And on the matter of wages, the wage structure at Barca has a larger bonus component and lower base than most other clubs. His base is not necessarily as large a base as you might thing, and probably not as much as some of the Prem's toothless tigers.

Thank you stumpy <ok> this is my exact point. I dont want to see our fans expecting to much from the great villa because if he were back to his world status then barca would not send him out on loan would they, what im reading from some is this great player is going to be our Savior and it just wont be like that... He may or may not score goals but if he is not fit then he will be up against players who will be 100% fit and i don't care how good you are you will not beat a fit premiership player. Lower leagues you may get away with it but not in the greatest league in the world where the game is much quicker than other top leagues....

I have to disagree with Dai and Stumpy on this issue. Firstly the facts as presented by both are not the issue, Villa has been back playing Football with no issues whatsoever, matter of fact he has even got back into the Spanish squad, and scoring, he's also been back training at Camp Nou, since July of this year, and ask any of his team mates if he is not sharp, as they will have the bruises to prove, that the leg injury is history.

What is the issue, is politics (again) and we should debate more of this issue another time, and how it gets in the way of progress, anyway it's no secret that Barcelona have a very disgruntled player on their hands in one David Villa, he stated some time back, that he wanted substantial and regular playing time but has so far failed to achieve that. The issue it seems is Tito Vilanova's cautious use of Villa, due to favouring his younger (Ten years) competitor, Tello, who has been rewarded recently with a four year contract, so it looks like Villa's days at Barcelona are numbered, matter of fact I'd go as far as to say that, you could say Villa's future at Camp Nou looks very, very bleak!

Now there are a number of clubs in the premiership that are hovering around this situation to make the most of it, but while Liverpool and ManCity in particular have been linked strongly, nothing yet has happened, though Liverpool seem to be the front runner for Villa should things end at Camp Nou. Now the fly in the ointment is little old Swansea, but not little anymore with Camp Nou legend Laudrup in charge at the Liberty, so we will wait and see what Santa brings, but this is not so far fetched as some would have you believe, for many footballing reasons, which should be clearly obvious, to any purist of the game, so can we please leave out, the 'Villa is not fit' rubbish please, we are fulfilling our destiny!..............<ok>

PS: Remember this, despite his struggle to get into a top-tier side at Camp Nou, he's still a world-class finisher.

<ok> Spot on. Obviously Villa is not in his absolute prime at the age of 31 but I don't buy into the "Villa is a shadow of himself". He is still very much World class which he has proven in his 11 performances and 5 goals this season. And still in the spanish squad. 'nuff said.

And I don't think anyone sees him as a saviour, especially since Swansea doesn't need to be saved doing quite alright without Villa. People are just exited which is what football is about right?

I think if he does come, we are on a winner anyway. If he performs well, then fantastic for us. If he doesn't then so what - neither has Schecter, neither did that skinny little boy from Chelsea last season.
What he would do by coming here - irrelevant of how he performs, is make players all around the world very aware of Swansea City. It would show how strong a pull Laudrup has. This can only be good for us as other players would take us very seriously about coming to play here in the future.
Add to that the number of shirts that would possibly sell with his name on the back. Good bit of business. Also let's look at the nostalgia part - "remember the time that David Villa came here on loan" - just more amazing memories for the fans.
I'd be happy for him to come here.

"The suggestion is that Barcelona could allow the Spain striker to leave on a loan deal in the intention that he can regain form following the leg break, having looked some way off his best since returning at the start of the season.

This is why some of us are cautious and not expecting to much, If he is not 100% fit then defenders will run rings around him in a much faster game we play anyway.....He is with us to get him back to his best if we can...we are being used by barca as the Big teams would not do a deal like that....I just hope it dont back fire on us thats all....
