Little difference for 7 whole years?

That's almost a HIAG level of spin.

"Spurs have been getting better and Arsenal worse"... so in the last calendar year and 38 league games, how come Arsenal have accumulated 5 more points than you???

Is that stat literally relevant for about the last 2 days and the next fortnight, Cini?
You've coincidentally missed out your poor start to last season, including the loss at WHL and the 8-2 to Utd.
Both NLDs in the past 12 months have been at The Emirates too, which skews the figures in your direction nicely, doesn't it?

Edit: Removed irrelevant and stupid point. <doh>

Because you were slightly better than us in the calendar year? Nothing to do with that fact that over the seasons we've generally improved whilst Arsenal have declined.

I'd go along with most of that. I still think Arsenal have the edge but it's minimal.

There was a time when no Spurs player would have got near the combined Arsenal-Spurs starting XI, Now if you did the team it would be near enough 50:50. That's quite staggering really. That said I'm not sure if Spurs have the capacity to step into that elite echelon of clubs, that could change if more investment were to come to fruition of course but I think plans to build a new stadium are going ahead (as far as I know).

  8. There is a kind of heroism in your blind optimism, PESKIE. I can't say I admire it, because that would be making fun of outright stupidity, and I am not a cruel man. No, I think it's more like being awe-struck, in the same way that I am awe-struck by soldiers walking into a hail of bullets and certain death.

I've lost count of the times I've heard that empty sentiment 'blind optimism' it's the standard non response wheeled out. So perhaps I should expand <ok> I would happily and confidently say that Arsenal have the edge on Spurs at the moment as even in our lean years we've finished above you and qualified for the champions league. Last season was one of our most rocky in recent years, we'd lost two of our best players and had a whole host of new faces coming in, we eventually lost our captain and top scorer, we got thumped by Man utd and yet we still tonked you 5-2 and finished above you again. So far this season has been another tumultuous affair and again we thumped you 5-2 .

Even when we're bad, we're still better than Spurs.

We beat Man Utd at Old Trafford and they had all 11 men on the field.
That doesn't mean that we're better than they are.
You lost to Bradford, so I assume that you think that they're a superior side to you, according to such logic.

In five of those years we finished within one place of you in the PL and we also won one more trophy than you. Arsenal were a bit better perhaps but not by much. The points gap in the PL has been gradually decreasing which is why I say we've been getting better and you've been getting worse.

No, comparing indirect results doesn't really give an accurate indication.
Beating you 5-2 twice in a row does <ok>

Not by such a huge scoreline maybe . . .

So what is the excuse for the other 5-2 tonking we gave you in February ?
    'Arry wasn't focused ? there was a 'Y' in the day ?
