We can change that setting pretty easily frank so that mods or admins can review articles before they go live. Was hoping to let people **** about with and start actually posting articles before we introduced that aspect. Now article writing is much easier than before, you simply write a normal post and click on promote to article - then all the corresponding comments on your post will be in the forum and at the bottom of the article on the homepage.

Spot on AP. The reason people didnt sign up to SPN was because the tone was a bit too much for some, and the football chat was non-existent. Same reason alot of people chose to leave and go to Talking Football. If we're now deciding we want to bring back the football chat, then we've got to make it seperate from the tone of the GD board, cos if people sign up to talk about football and see Taigs, Huns etc then they'll just **** off again for the same reasons. 1 board called General Discussion where anything goes. 2 boards called Rangers and Celtic which are moderated and dodgy language kept to a minimum.
And by the way, what do i need to do to stop myself getting logged out every few minutes if i dont post anything!?

Forums like this are kicking the arse of the mainstream media, soon enough these will be the main source of footballing news. I find out Rangers stuff on follow follow well before its reported anywhere else. Something I could easily poach and post on here. Despite the lower collective IQ I'm sure Kerryfail Street is the same for Celtic fans. The potential for a site like this is massive, but without care it can easily drop like a stone. Thats all I'm going to say about it, my lunch is being interupted by some muppet contractors turning up at my house without notice so I'm off to boot some arses. So I'm off. Frank - Fair do's. It makes sense. But this isn't a Hun site for everyone to bum each other up about how much you love your team. Follow Follow is just a Rangers love-in and the Celtic sites are the same. Which is why I avoid them like the plague. Keeping the Football stuff seperate doesn't bother me at all. As long as GD can still be pointless. There are heaps of the same forums all over the net. The reason I use this place is mainly due to the fact we can be dicks to each other (like me and you) but still get a serious discussion when needs be (like now) I don't see a problem in being "niche" although at the end of the day it's up to Mick. Venom thats the point being made. This board is more or less unmoderated to talk about anything, girls, football, weather.... If you want to discuss Celtic with Celtic fans go to that board & likewise for Rangers fans. We need to have football chat to entice new members but the Main Forum is what sets this site different to the rest in terms of self moderation.
Frank, whilst your idea about getting people to review the articles before they are issued has some merits, there is a major issue that could arise if it was instigated. Who are you going to get to 'proof read' the pieces before they are uploaded. That could end up being a hoor of a job and it gives the proof reader / approver the power to edit stuff that they don't necessarily agree with and then we end up going backwards towards the dark old days when people like Ace didn't like certain words so would basically put a big red marker through the article. At least Muir only has limited access and surely he couldn't screw that up.................................
Yeah but moderating the football board would be a nightmare. At the end of the day it's usually the same old people who ruin serious threads. I'm mentioning no names here, but you know who you are. We've all been guilty of it in the past too. Never going to stop it happening. What we need to cut out is people who continually post the same old Old Firm pish and ruin threads. So far the football boards on the new site are alright and pretty much only about football. I only posted that McGregor video to test if YouTube worked on here. Nev got me watching Prodigy videos when he told me he was going to see them. Self moderation is the best way IMO. And agree with you. The last thing we need is a bunch of sensitive nancies on here objecting if you call Samaras a "****ing tranny" or McGregor a "Dirty wee rapist", that would kill the banter IMO. But if that was the case I'd just stick to GD all the time and ignore the football boards. Basically I've decided I don't care either way now.
