I can see us getting to the last week of January without a deal done and then panic sets in and we will miss on one or two signings. Or in other words, exactly how the summer went

Where's a buy back clause when you need one?

    Oh indeed.

I think some of these signings we are being too damn non-chalant about and just thinking the other team will buckle. Well no, they have seen how much we have splashed before and even how much we splashed on a pretty standard player ( 15 mil-Joe Allen) and they are not laying down easy.

sadly probably happen, and then blame it on we couldn't get the right loan signings as we are broke.

  12. I'll be more pissed off if we only got loans. How can a loan signing possibly be good for the future of the club? It is just delaying activities <doh>

Brendan Rodgers is confident Raheem Sterling will put pen to paper on a new Liverpool contract in the next 24 hours.

The 18-year-old has excelled for the Reds this season and has featured heavily in the first team since the manager's arrival in June.

And asked at his pre-Fulham press conference whether Sterling was on the verge of signing a new deal, Rodgers replied: "Hopefully that will be concluded within the next 24 hours.

"I have said before that there was never a real issue, it was just a matter of timing and we hope that over the next couple of days that can be complete.

"We were always calm. I speak a lot with Raheem and his representatives and there has never been any issues from their side. It was just making sure that we take care in terms of the financial and football plan for the player.

"This was about a young player who has rocketed form playing in the youth teams and the reserves into becoming a full England international, so a lot has happened in his young life and it was just about making sure that there was that protection for him going forward.

"I have always been confident that this was going to be the best place for him. The kid is very focused and devoted to Liverpool. His representatives know this is the best place for him.

"Once it gets concluded, he can start to the next part of his development and hopefully he can keep progressing."

**** Greedy Blackpool, they're taking the piss.

Blackpool boss Michael Appleton says Liverpool will have to increase their offer if they want to re-sign Tom Ince.
Ince left Anfield last summer after playing just once in the first team, with Blackpool

boss Brendan Rodgers wants the forward - who has scored 13 goals in the Championship this season - back, and has made an offer for the 20-year-old.
But Appleton says the offer is nowhere near big enough for the hot prospect.
"As far as I'm aware I think there's been a conversation between Karl (Oyston) and Liverpool regarding an offer but, as far as I'm aware, it's way below the type of money we'd expect for someone of Tom's talent," he said.
"Obviously the chairman keeps me informed but I think it was just an initial conversation between himself and Liverpool and there was a figure used but obviously it's way below, like I say."
Ince is a slight doubt for the weekend's game with Wolves but if fit Appleton said he will have no hesitation fielding him.
"Without a shadow of a doubt," he said. "I wouldn't worry about that. And he'll continue to play as long as we hold his registration. He's quite a down to earth, sensible young lad anyway.
"I think having someone like his dad (former England international Paul Ince) in his family who's been a professional footballer himself and knows the ups and downs of the game, I'm sure he'll put a decent performance in.
"I wouldn't say I'm resigned to losing him just yet though. There's still a lot of work to be done before anything like that happens."

As per what's become usual LFC are seen as a soft touch, they know we're 'desperate' and put the boot in, the Sturridge deal is also in the balance due to his agents trying to take advantage of our predicament.

FSG's 'buy English' policy is biting us on the arse financially and there are foreign players just as good that would cost less.<grr>
